ooops...

Sorry for the first penalty, said Coveny. That and some other shot should been in.
I must practice more.

Coveny was disappointing with 0 from 6 from the field and 1 of 2 from the spot.

Amazed at how often our strikers just stood there in off-side positions. That said I'm pretty surprised that Storey in particular didn't do better against the trap.

Oh, and what is it with Soul players not knowing how to disguise fouls in the box?

what is it with NZ and not finishing with 11 on the field :s. Still think it was a harsh result given the general play. They had more possession due to their winger who I left unmarked, who didn't really do a lot, except a lucky cross in the 2nd half. Meanwhile our strikers, especially Coveny missed some dead simple chances and Storey was extremely quiet which was surprising. Schirippa made some poor decisions at times as well.

Disappointing result, as I thought we looked the stronger side again.

Lucky cross =p You dont know how good he is then?

as i said in the NZ forum, NZ had one of my players playing and Aussie had none, so NZ therefore won. It was vice versa in the previous match this season

12 offsides and many missed chances made it a frustrating game to watch.
2008-02-23 14:58:25
The cross itself was quality, but i said it was lucky because it was the only cross you had all game :p.

Ok. expect a few things from myself over the next few days since I've been re-elected. We've entered the MWC, we'll know our group by 20:00 sk time today, sadly that's 6am tomorrow for myself and will be unable to watch the live drawing.

We should be alright, only team I probably don't want to run into is South Africa, the rest of the possible teams should be alright.

Definitely aim to get at least to the quarter finals, although ideally I'd like to win the thing, but we'll take it 1 game at a time and see where we end up. Should be good for ranking points though.

When I get the chance over the next day or so, I'll be wanting to update the age rankings thing to put players into their proper age brackets since they're now 1 year older.

Along with this I intend to get a minimum requirements for the NT up and going, which will be subject to change but can be considered a general guideline.

That's my aim over the next week. Please keep sending in skmails with player updates or any enquiries you might have.

Also like to congratulate borkos on winning the Polish elections on the re-run, and commiserations to Tigermaster who lost the re-run of the elections in Malaysia after winning it the first time.

Thanks again for giving me my 4th term in charge and any suggestions about what you'd like to see different feel free to tell me.

Congrats Dave. Look forward to seeing where you can take the team this season.

Group D
Australia
Ísland
Honduras
South Africa

what about??

i think that Australia must to win all 3 matches..
2008-02-27 05:11:41
should be able to. Although it's certainly not as easy a group as I would have liked but we'll manage. In future I should keep quiet because I admitted I didn't want South Africa and we got them. I think they're the only side in the group that could challenge us, although Island has a pretty good manager which makes things a little more complicated but we should have a much stronger first team.

Aim is to win all 3, but South Africa could be an interesting prospect.
2008-02-27 05:49:39
The Island manager is pretty weak, i hear he was sacked from the staff because he was too weak even for them!
2008-02-27 06:02:43
yeah except cambrant is the manager of Island now :p.

Anyway on another note, worked out our likely path if results go the way as I predict.

If we finish 1st in our group:

1/8 - Latvija
1/4 - Bosnia
1/2 - Srbija
Final - Whoever wins other side

If we finish 2nd in our group:

1/8 - Osterreich
1/4 - Turkiye
1/2 - Peru or Ireland
Final - Whoever wins other side

I know what side I'd prefer to be on. First side looks significantly easier than the second side. Latvija is a lot weaker than Osterreich, Bosnia will be challenging and quite tricky, they've draw against both Canada and Osterreich in the qualification season, although Turkiye is fairly similar in strength. Either side that's going to be an interesting test.

Then I'd rather play Srbija then either Peru or Ireland. Srbija didn't go so well against South Africa in the qualis so despite really challenging us, we could get across the line if we play well enough.

So yeah, I think finishing 1st in the group is the best thing to do at this stage which is what we're going to aim at doing over the next 3 weeks.
