Asunto: National Team

Least Hirons seems to have finally learnt how to handle players who like to hack legs ;).

Was pretty satisfied with Hirons today for what short time he got. Gave their defenders something to think about, which Storey surprisingly didn't :s.

Yeah he didn't score but he didn't really have as many chances as what Byers and Storey had. He dragged out a few nice fouls from the opposition which resulted in 2 goals.

Iceland take out Austria. Going all the way, fellers?

Bosnia also got knocked out by Venezuela, what is it with top seeds getting knocked out.

So looks like it's Venezuela next week, could be interesting.

Thanks, was probably the easiest game we've played with the exception of Honduras.

Yeah, Hirons had a lot of time to watch videos about how to take a hit, how to roll, how to fall etc when he had the best part of a season and a half doing rehab.

are we gonna play the u21 WC?

No, I've decided we're not as I'd rather try and get as many ranking points as possible to give us a hopefully better qualifying spot then we had last season. We'll still play a few U21 games though.

Even if we auto-qualify for it by beating Venezuela in the 1/4s and thus leaving free spot to gain ranking points anyway?

thing is, we'd then have to play sides like Italy,Poland,Belgium and there is no way, even with superior tactics, our U21's will beat any of theirs. Basically we'd get thumped and as a consequence any ranking points we gained up until then we'd lose just as quickly.

That's my reason for not entering it. The qualification stuff would be alright but what's the point of qualifying if I don't want to compete in it in the first place. May as well let another team get in that wants to try to qualify.

Cometer certainly has the right idea here, and as long as we continue to gain ranking points (so far 88 points and 3 positions in the MWC) he will leave next seasons NT coach in a very good position to qualify for the next world cup...especially if for once we get a nice group

Venezuela are by no means a pushover this week either. Better than having to play Bosnia but they'll be a challenge for us and we'll have to go into the game with the correct strategy to progress. 1 more win and we're guaranteed to play out the last two rounds of the MWC.

With a lot of the other top sides failing to reach the quarters, the draw has really opened up for us and we're going to need to be careful we don't follow the other sides in getting knocked over.

The winner of Venezuela and us will face the winner of Moldova and Russia in the semi finals, neither of which should cause too many problems for either Venezuela or ourselves.

Unfortunately, I think this is going to be a very late/very early (whatever you prefer to call it) game for us since Venezuela have got the home game.

yup :) I was quite bored so decided to look for some decent youngsters ;-) Dream Team Web has a nice 'unknown' thing...if you take u21 National Team, then you can make it u20, u19, u18 etc just by changing the end of adress from 1 to 2/3/4 :)
