Asunto: National Team

If there was enough interest in sharing and developing tactical knowledge in Australia I could probably put together a tactic emulator that would enable us to save and share tactics. It may well take me a while, but if I knew others were interested in it that would do wonders for my motivation to actually get it done.

Its a bit hazy as to how much the sokker devs approve of such a tool, so I dare say there wouldn't be much automation as far as being able to load and save tactics into and out of sokker itself. Even still I should be able to get it to a point where people could create a tactic in the emulator, save it and then be able to email it to other people with the emulator. So other users could look at it, make suggestions/alterations to the tactic etc, send it around again. At the moment I'd imagine it would still require the NT Manager to manually re-enter the tactic into Sokker.

So, is there any/enough interest from prospective NT Managers and the users/assistants for me to create such a tool?

It would be awesome if possible to do. It would have helped me a lot when I started too.

I believe a closed Australian Association would work well as those interested in helping could discuss more private things like players skills etc.

And this would also help for newer teams to see how things work when discussing tactics and possible player selections and hopefully get someone else interested in running the NT to give cometer a break if he choses so

That would be awesome. It's not hard to make a decent tactic, but hard to make a great tactic, and even harder to make a superb tactic based on your opponents setup.

I think this would not only make the competition in australia greater (and we all know The Black Flashes needs a bit more competition) but would raise the interest of the game and also make Australia alot better. Also Cometer can get a rest from the national team if he'd like ;)

I'm happy enough to keep going, I just wanted to wait a few days to soak up a few general opinions and to see if I was going to have any serious competition, in which case I would have considered giving them a shot as I don't want to "hog" the NT role as it certainly is a valuable learning role. Also I needed to sit down and work out exactly what I'm expecting to come up over the next season as well and determine if I in fact had enough time to properly manage the team and aside from a few weeks, early October and 8th November I should be fine in that issue. Was actually one of the reasons I was waiting to try and piece together if I could put in the time that I think a NT manager needs to.

As for the tactical thing, the biggest problem with it is whether or not that's within the rules to do so. I'd have a feeling without checking that it probably wouldn't given that matches aren't allowed to be downloaded and passed around, but I can still check before anything happens anyway. Certainly could be useful.

Problem with the private forum idea is currently only plus users are able to access it and then I'd have to kick barhilo out as he'd likely squeal when it came time to take on NZ :p, otherwise it's not a bad idea.

There could be more to help but it's never been something I've wanted to force upon people, or feel that I'm offloading work that a manager should be responsible for, which is one of the reasons I haven't actually deliberately spoken much about the issue. 95% of the time, I'm actually able to fulfill the tasks (not perfect, but nothing you do can ever be perfect, there's always improvements).

What I've been trying to do over the seasons is to build up the interest and build the support base there. Knowing people are going to be supporting the team throughout the entire season makes it a lot more enjoyable as it makes the time spent worthwhile. I think I've achieved that so far, at least I hope I have as you keep on re-electing myself ;). Our NT has certainly grown and improved over the seasons, largely due to the work of managers and it's a trend I'd like to see continue because otherwise our NT will reach a point and then decline rather rapidly and hover around the lower half of the rankings.

Some of the ideas are certainly interesting and are worth considering, especially now with some added functionality, would be one way to give others the experience of what it's like, but I've never expected that from people but have always been open to some of the ideas. Without influencing others though if the interest was there then I'd stronger consider to try to figure something out.

I think what we need to track for improvement is certainly the grass roots. I figure we're not going to get a whole heap of users to sign up but what we can do is make things slightly better in terms of giving them a mentor system of some sort to help with the game, especially the first few weeks. Perhaps that way we'll maintain the users, rather than have them appear for a month or so and then vanish due to either not enjoying the game or finding the game too complex.

Another thing to consider is to continue with that training system which Achmid set up based off agbell's suggestion. Sure it might only get a few interested but if it gets 1-2 more NT players from local clubs rather than see it go to waste in some foreign club who doesn't train the position and if it doesn't add anything after a few seasons then it can be scrapped and is least an idea we tried.

These are just ideas, not implying anything about using them or not ;).

I'm surprised no one has put his hand up to offer some help considering the support and interest you've generated around the NT... unless they secretly waiting for you to step down to jump on the job!

This is normally my favourite match to be a part of especially through tactics, but I only just woke up after last nights shift, and it's really a little too late to change anything

haha tbh, Byers is only above everyone else in striker because he can tackle :p.
