Well we're set and ready for Austria. Definite aim for 3 points which puts the extra pressure on them in 2 weeks time. Nothing really more to add, other than hopefully we pick up the 3 points this week. Surely we're due a lucky/fortunate break. We're without Storey and Nikas for the week but most of the other guys are safely through and are available for selection. Storey and Nikas are pretty big blows in the context of the match but we'll have to find other replacements to lift their games a bit.
I'm interested in Villafane, but I wouldn't be giving him any pace for a while yet. I also have some cash flow issues and would need another 3-4 weeks before I can probably get the $$$ together.
Really nervous about this game truth be told. Went to the Brumbies and they played woeful and usually with sporting teams and related topics if one goes badly, the rest fall badly like a pack of cards in the same day. Let's hope this breaks the cycle.
Congrats cometer, great win. Nice job picking Newhill, he had a great game.
:). Knew they'd go with a winger and 5 at the back so I thought fine you want to play like that I'll set up to punch through your offensive defense and have my own defense right back and closer together to make our defense the stronger of the two :).
When Storey went down I thought my plan would hurt somewhat because I wanted to use a fast high technical player in conjunction with Byers who is strong at tackling the line. Was a toss up between Dreger and Newhill but I went with Newhill as I figured he'd give us that slightly bit more depth.
Only disappointing thing was conceding the soft penalty and having Ferris injured who played extremely well given Ando/Pottier were both out of form and I couldn't get Papaluca into the squad as next choice.
:D (Makes it sweet, sweet victory when the past 3 campaigns we've fudged up one crucial game to miss out by millimetres) Hopefully this time is a sign of change.

Seeing lots of smiles here :). Yet on the Austrian forums although I don't understand what appears to be German there's a lot of ":("
The first one is always the one to win because now Austria are on the backfoot, another loss against us in 2 weeks could end their WCQ season whereas even if we lose we're still in a strong position to qualify. Going to go for the jugular and win the next round too to make us in an almost unbeatable position.

the :( expressed the sentiment of the users who weren't all too happy with our tactics today. grats
oh, and, yes, it was German you were reading

well it was fairly predictable what you'd do. I then just had to make something that would work and we got the result this week. Next time it could go the other way.
yes, it was fairly obvious that you were able to read marcodona's style pretty well. good positioning of the strikers and nice and compact def. grats on that
marcodona's a smart kid. and he's got two weeks to figure something out.

Interesting, different, win. Will be interesting to see what Austria comes up with in reply for the return leg.
