I think differently too... I'm sure you'll cool down later.
When the score is 6-3, we have done something wrong.
Offensively we were there, defensively nowhere to be seen.
It's obviously easy to draw conclusion once the game is played but I often wonder where our DM was. And when he wasnt busy picking flowers on the pitch their striker had a boulevard in the centre of our defense while our CBs made their minds up on what to do.
I thought they made a good use of their 2 DMs pressing on our Mids with their SB on hold to back them up. It worked well against a wing orientated side like us despite our 3 goals.
They didnt play a great game overall but they capitalise on our mistakes, it's the way it goes sometimes...
Still it's not the end just yet... chin up :)

The point of Broxton was to try and put pressure on their midfield and cutting out options to their winger. Still half those through balls still would have happened even if Broxton was in a regular dm position.
I still think the result was harsh. I guess I'm more frustrated with the fact they could pelt 70m through balls constantly and we couldn't do it once. Doesn't seem to matter if I play defenders high up the pitch or deep anymore, they just waltz through at will. Only way to stop that is a back 4, then sit the 3 mids right back in the gaps. Then you lose the attack and open up the wings.

That's hald the amount of goals then.
point taken :P
I understand the frustration, the through balls were spectacular and made me salivating...

yeah, although he was in superdivine form, played like supertragic. Still was the best we had at our disposal given our top 2 keepers were only in solid form. Had a solid performance last match against Austria, this time didn't do anything right.
it was as if every austrian midfielder out there were paul scholes and the striker was agbonlahor....
The through balls happen when the movement and the position of the striker is right.
That was what the tactic was about and it worked very well.
Your strikers about never had the position to get a trough ball.
It's not fault of the engine or random, you can control it if you know how the opponents defending line is going to stand.
The win was ok I think.
Willis was about your only weapon but did not bring his crosses accurate.
6 goals is a bit harsh though.

I'd like to know exactly how to because I've tried pretty much everything across seasons to learn how to create those and I never get them. I've tried running them through holes, standing them in line with the defense, having them in line and running through, nothing seems to work and thats with knowing where the opposition is going to stand. So until such time as I'm shown otherwise, I'll continue to believe it's largely luck.
I only get them against opposition that leave massive holes and/or have much lower defensive skills.
I don't usually have problems with 20-30m through passes but 70m ones are ridiculous and I'll stand by it, especially when I'd set my defenders to close in when a ball is passed down the guts and they should have done so well before the pass got through them.
Anyways, I agree our striker placement was a little short tonight but still think the scoreline was harsh and that the last 2 goals in particular were harsh.

Gaps too big. Big gaps, no traffic, open, exposed, goals. We were unlucky, but we were also outplayed.
A draw would have been a lucky result for us.

Can't get the gaps any smaller tbh, unless you're referring to gaps between midfield and defense in which case yeah but it was done so rather deliberately to keep the ball down the other end of the field and apply pressure to their midfield which worked to a degree, gave them loads of time on the ball at the other end but most of the time our deep defense had them covered except for the long through balls which would still have occurred had I closed up the space in between defense and midfield.

You need high playmaking for centre mids, that's all.

We've got that though in all our mids. Willis-Beauchamp-Timpano all have high pm and all have high passing skills too.

Not quite but not far away. Willis still has more but the others are within 1-2.
Maybe you'd consider checking one of my tactics in a friendly game, or easy qual game? I think I'm quite good at making through passes happen...
