Asunto: National Team

form + freshness + random chance of beating a defender = success.

Considering the other strikers both had more it was a little surprising but happily taken.

Now I understand why you make Willis play : weak player but great diver :P
2009-03-28 12:34:42
if that's what you think then go for it :p.

You want to play negative football then that's fine by us because we're happy to have your players go to the showers early :p.
2009-03-28 12:37:56
I was just kidding. What's "negative football" ?
2009-03-28 12:39:32
Trying to trip and injure players is negative football :p.

I knew you were, I guess you din't notice all my ":p" in my previous post. I was kidding too but the other way ;).
2009-03-28 12:45:55
Yeah I know. I just didn't understand "negative football"... yeah we wanted to hurt Willis but he's a smart guy and choosed to dive instead of running forward ;-)

Qualification is almost certainly gone now. Portugal defeated Island easily and are way ahead on goal difference, since theyve got both Iran and Tunisia in their group. Uruguay already have 1pt more than us, that leaves us requiring at least a draw against Belgium and even then it might not be enough if someone else picks up a win. I just can't see us getting anything against Belgium, I can see us putting up a fight but I realistically can't see us beating them or escaping with a draw.

Thus although our campaign isn't over, our chances of progressing are pretty slim. Results haven't fallen our way all season, with Uruguay getting lucky breaks against France and Lithuania, whilst Island knocking over Portugal in the first leg and failing the 2nd.

We'll try to grab the 3 points against Belgium but it's like asking for the flop to be dealt giving you a royal flush. We'd need the best tactic, along with luck, all of our best players available and in form and to have our keeper have a miraculous game whilst we poach a goal or two down the other end.

The only other thing we can hope for is Republica Dominicana causing an upset over Austria and us sneaking into 2nd place as a result.

Strange things have happened before, hopefully we're able to conjure up something special against Belgium and book our place which I feel we deserve. We're better than some of the other sides who are qualifying.

Impressive comeback of Maras to league eleven! 3 goals, best striker today.

I sell Stephen Wirrpanda, age: 23 because he need more technique for his National Team.
This is a chance for him to come back home if someone from Australia can buy him.

Good luck with your National Team. Maybe we'll meet at World Cup because i am coach of Romania.

U23 game this weekend. That rests up a large number of our players. Should be an interesting game. Those with U23 players that aren't updated in the NTDB please do so, either by using FireSokker extension or updating it manually into the db. For information on how to do so just check the NT page, it explains everything there with direct links included.

We're set for our U23 match with Canada. Ideally I would have liked to have had Morton,Papaluca,Villafane and Stewart released from the U21's but it hasn't occurred atm. Fortunately I have a backup plan which will hopefully work effectively for us tonight.

We're all set for the match against Canada and looking forward to trying to stop their midfielders dictating terms. Lemieux is a bit of a gun if they decide to use them, they've got some decent midfielders out there.

Form shouldn't be an issue for our players, I think our lowest starting player is excellent form.

Question just becomes whether we can cause damage on the Canadian goal.

Pottier had a strong game and we were able to snatch a couple of goals off the break in the 2nd half. A 2-0 win probably looks harsh on Canada given they dominated the shot count and territory. Most of their shots though were from distance and I'm not too concerned there.

the incident in the 70th minute was hilarious! and then not long after that the good ol' magic pass for the opener
2009-04-04 10:28:26
the magic pass came because their defense were pressed high up the field and there was massive space in between their outer def and the next one in which Bowen was situated. All we needed then was someone with high PM and the rest would follow. The "magic" passes happen frequently when you press if you expose a gap. That's why I hate pressing and why I don't often press opposition.
