Probably should make this a mail rather than on the forum, but what's holding Stewart back if midfield is the problem?

form. That's essentially what stopped him from making today's game in the end. He's about equivalent to a lot of the guys currently playing with the exception of that. He was in my initial squad list before I trimmed it down.

So when I say midfield is an issue, it's not exceptionally weak but it's not as strong as I'd like given it's essentially U26's. Stewart has definitely got a future for the NT that's for sure ;).

That's the problem with not using a manager program for a while. Didn't realise it had gotten quite that bad.

Yeah form changes pretty quickly. Usually why I don't make a final list until after Thursday (in this case this morning due to the late match arrangement).

Had his form been around formidable-outstanding it probably would have seen him on the team (either starting or off the bench).

You've done an incredible job with him so far. Between Stewart and Villafane it's pleasing to know we've got players coming through to take over from the Baveas',Timpano's, Thompson's, Oliveira's who are almost certainly into their last few seasons.

Then we've got a few other guns coming through like Byers so we're in a good position for the next generation :).

Well I guess that's one of those games you curse at and move on ;).

The amount of chances we fudged were unreal, then it goes down the other end one cross automatic goal. Getting tired of this, getting real tired...

Is there anywhere I went wrong other than not mark the winger. Thought we got treated a little harshly there and on a rematch we probably would have won. We got better defense ratings then them yet struggled to break through their defense and they broke through ours (half of which is 1st XI material anyway) on a regular basis. We also got a higher shooting rating then they did and butchered one on ones like you wouldn't believe. Did we score from a 1 on 1 at all? Possibly when Maras drew out the keeper and passed to Stephenson but that's the only time :p.

Sometimes you just shake your head in disbelief at this game. Game should be called Random Manager because that's what it feels like :).

Actually there was another mistake which is purely a selectional issue. Should have put Haereiti on the side Waters was on but that's life, despite leaving the winger free we probably should have been up.

Sounds like you're describing soccer.

So some of our players made mistakes at key times. Some had a bad day. All you can do as a manager is set things up to give your team the best chance of winning on the day. Then it's out of your hands.

In that sense, it gives you a good idea of what a top manager goes through watching his team (Spain) get done by a weaker team (USA) despite dominating.

Yeah, also the casino addicts would like it :)

Yeah I know and that's where the sport is both cruel and unusually kind. Still doesn't help the confidence when you know the tactic they're using because they posted the lineup an hour before the game, match it up almost perfectly, have double the shots and the opposition keeper has a blinder :p (I choose to believe he had a blinder over our strikers having a shocker. Have to remain positive :p)

I don't know whether Spain really dominated the USA if it's the game I'm thinking of but the point is still valid. You could apply it to Bahrain v Australia and it still holds true :).

Still doesn't change my point though in that it is probably more random here then in real life :).
