Yeah I'll most likely rest our best 11 and deal with whatever the result is.

Hayastan 1-3 Australia

A good result in a friendly against a stronger opponent. Both teams rested players with a view to next weeks qualifiers. A few more ranking points gained, its been a solid season.

& just as important....no injuries/suspensions.

Tomorrow we are back to World Cup Qualifiers with the return match against Belarus.

Polska - as-Saʻūdiyya
Belarus - Australia
Uruguay - Slovenija

After defeating them 7-3 at home we go into the game as favourites and I'm confident we can repeat the result. The squad is in reasonable shape. Form is down slightly, but we have no suspensions. Star striker Rob Alagich will miss the match through injury but #1 midfielder Craig Butera is a chance to see some action after a long injury layoff.

The other match we should watch closely is the second and third seeds Uruguay - Slovenija. A win for Uruguay will give us the best chance of a third place finish in the group, however an upset win for Slovenija opens up the possibility of a second place finish for us. In the first leg Uruguay had the better of the play, but lost 3-0 to Slovenija.

Oh, and in the other match Poland will steamroll as-Saʻūdiyya.

This is a pivotal round for determining finishing positions.

Job done. We scored all five goals in a satisfactory performance. Enough said.

Group E Table (team, points, goal diff)

1. Polska 18 (+39)
2. Uruguay 12 (+10)
3. Australia 10 (+9)
4. Slovenija 7 (+2)
5. Belarus 6 (-13)
6. as-Saʻūdiyya 0 (-47)

We sit in a strong position heading into a tough roadtrip. Away to Poland this week, and then away to Uruguay next week. The focus this week will be damage limitation to protect our nice goal difference, and against Uruguay we will go for an upset. the first leg against Poland was a respectable 4-0 defeat, so here's hoping we can equal that result.
The squad is in the best shape it has been for some time and barring a midweek injury, we should have our best eleven available.

as-Saʻūdiyya 0-9 Uruguay
Slovenija 7-1 Belarus
Australia 0-1 Polska

Super result against the might of Poland. Goal difference protected. In the two matches against them, we finish with an aggregate score line of 0-5 which is really tidy.

The bad news, first game back from a 4wk injury our best midfielder Butera picks up a 21 day injury and won’t be available again until the final group match. The other piece of bad news, Slovenija picked up some great goal difference to make the battle for third very tight.
