Asunto: National Team

Yes I was, it's a bit hard not to write something when you're browsing through rival forums. We looked even worse against Colombia compared to Czechia, conceded 3 goals after headers, stuff that doesn't even happen in the lowest leagues. Very concerned about qualifying to the WC as the whole community expected us to do so.

While I'm here I'll also say that, truth be told, you didn't even come close to a draw in that game we had, we pretty much dominated it before the RC and you scored a lucky banger in the last minutes of the game. Could've easily been 4-1.
You can certainly challenge us on a good day, but that certainly wasn't even close to your best day.

Still good effort so far AGBell as we're pretty much one league supplying players for the NT. Even though it's an aging squad, some new managers should help with a refresh...may have to take a couple of years of pain before seeing benefits.

Cisco is training defenders, after just getting his youth training going...been tutoring him a little as he gets up to speed with how training will best work for the NT etc.

Great, we need DEFs, the pipeline isn't great.

Matchday 6:

Kypros 0-1 Australia

Two clean sheets and two wins against Kypros. The performance was better today, but the scoreline was tighter as we could only find the back of the net once from twelve shots. The three points is enough to move us above second seeded Bosnia into third place thanks to a vastly superior goal difference, but still six points off the magical second spot with four games remaining.

Matchday 7

Australia 0-6 Česká republika

The might of the Czechs were simply too strong for us. Against the world number three getting a point is a miracle and we just couldn't compete. This now makes any remote chance we ever had of qualifying for the World Cup pretty much zero chance.

Has been a great campaign, so to even have a very slim shot was a tremendous effort. Good luck for the third spot. The NT is getting close to popping in to that 3rd pot for future WC so it's certainly a big match up.

Congratulations, heavily undeserved draw (who doesn't hate it when a 10-man squad yanks it from 30 yards out?), but I have to understand your playstyle.
Forgot to change tactic in a late draw situation and it helped you massively.

Fantastic draw mate, and to do it with 10 men is incredible. Who knows what could have happened with 11, may have come home with the win.
Australia may not get 3rd spot, but you certainly deserved it

Bosna i Hercegovina 1-1 Australia

Well, given we played most of the game with ten men, I’ll take a draw. That’s two games and two red cards against the second seed in the group... for a 3-2 loss and a 1-1 draw. Not too bad.

I thought Australia had a friendly match with NZ some time this season to happen at the same time as the U21 match against NZ.

The U21 has two matches against them, so didn't know which one was at the same time, but according to the NZ schedule, it doesn't look like Aus do have the double header

I vaguely recall it being floated as an idea, but nothing got booked in. Open to the idea though.

Australia 5-2 Kenya

A win was expected and we got there despite some challenges. For some reason I wasn't able to create a spec tactic for this match as I couldn't get the match viewer to load so glad we avoided a banana skin!

Colombia completed their impressive tournament with a solid win against us, and they progress to the World Cup.

Overall it was a reasonable campaign evidenced by our strong goal difference. I would've loved to pick up an extra three points along the journey to slide into third... I look back at the one goal loss to the Czechs as one of our best performances. During the campaign we have improved our ranking by four places which is pleasing when you're seeded below halfway in the group.
