Australia - Malaysia 3:1
Good game, few ranking points earned.
Good game, few ranking points earned.
Hello,
Today was the last match of the qualifying round for the WC took place, in which after a very good match we only tied with the Indonesian team. We finished the qualifying round in a very good 3rd place. Considering the staffing situation, it is hard to find a better result. In my opinion the team needs to be rebuilt. Very good age groups are leaving among the players(30-35yo), unfortunately their successors are not very visible. In the age groups of 24-28, there are currently several valuable players, most of them are defenders and goalkeepers. We have no forward-looking strikers and offensive midfielders. There is a greater choice among young people aged 22-23, but not in every position.
In order to fight effectively in eliminations and have equal chances in the game with teams from a similar ranking position, we must build an equal team. I miss future players in this team with skills like the one below:
central midfielders (minimum)
11 xx
15 12
12 16
16 xx
winger (minimum)
11 xx
16 xx
16 14
16 xx
attackers (minimum)
11 xx
16 xx
16 xx
xx 16
I know that a lot depends on the recruitment of juniors in the given years, but without the right successors this team will go back instead of developing and no new coach will change anything here. Without the attackers, there will be no one to score, unless we have created, as in today's match, 12 very good opportunities - 0 goals.
Summarizing the current situation, the national team needs several seasons of hard work to build the foundations for the future. If you want, I can stay as a coach and support you in this mission. If you think it's the coach's fault, please let me know. I will look for another job and provide the new trainer with the necessary information.

Van G is a great player, and the most exciting MID for quite a number of age groups (there's a couple of great ones a couple of years below).
I think we have a great future ahead for Australia, as the U21 team has gone from being in and around the 5th pot (rank around 64) to currently in a fight off for pot 3 in the next work cup (rank 48).
Saying that, there are a lot of lower ranked teams that rate the same or better than our current U21s, but coaching, tactics, opposition choice can give the edge.
Coming 3rd in qualifying is a great success, and certainly one to be proud of. Congrats indeed

I'm open to changing my training of DEF if it helps the NT setup, but will stick with that until I hear otherwise. :)
I certainly like you being a DEF trainer but more than wanting you to train a position, I want you to train whatever you will get the most fun out of training.
There are plenty of middle level trainers for Australia, so that won't be an issue, lack of decent pulls is what hurts us more

Yeah this season has been threadbare with YP.....last season saw some nice striker pulls, which I managed to sell on for some nice gains. My next good 'un may determine what I next train (& when I do switch).
Australia - India 4:2
7 games unbeaten in a row :) we have a little run of luck

9 games with no lose, last time we lose 2022-02-12 against Netherlands.
Next week New Zeland so level is going higher :)
