Good day to You all!
I hope Your training reports have much more green than red :)
I'm sorry that I didn't wrote a match summary, few things happened IRL. Game engine liked result of that match and we gained 8 ranking points despite losing effort :)
Upcoming match will be against Belgium. Later at evening I'll write hyping post and start preparing for it :)

Good day to You!
Tomorrow we face much stronger opponent Belgie. As usual bunch of statistics or observations:
Last time Australia and Nederlands faced each other was in S68 and we lost 1:2 :) From history point of view in 15 games we never won against them :(
Deklenen - After 7 seasons as a Belgie U21 coach, this season he decided to give seniors a chance, where he was only participant. First match against Nederlands was a bit unlucky, but rest of matches went smoothly.
Something about their stars:
Samuel Schauwaers [37890607] - MID in his prime, playing at 'only' 82 marks, top form. And his wage 64 950 $ make him highest paid Belgium player in their NT! After checking his skill from last season transfer (4x17 + 'only' 16 in def) I know that he will have huge impact in this match
<Here I wanted to include some GK> - but RN they have 5 keeper who are at 90+ mark and top form. So I assume there will be one with best form and side skills ;)
After checking studio we can find out that Fans Expectations are "Your supporters hope the team won`t bring them too much shame in this match.. " and my thoughts are 70% for Belgie/15 % draw/15% for Australia. I watched recent matches but there is no consistency, so it ain't gonna be as pleasant match as against Nederlands
Match will take place at 1pm server time and in case of any injuries I'll be able to switch any players from Americas.
Starting eleven is not yet decided and tactics wise I still have to do some work.
Until next time!
==============================
INJURY UPDATE:
Terje Parkinson [38059126] - another long injury after fully healing :<
John Brown [38547389] - slight injury, but ain't gonna risk him
==============================
EDIT: 21:43 All set and done :)

These things happen. They’re a much superior team, you really need a lot of things to go perfect to beat or match that. You’ve done well to this point.
Surprised to see Joel Ponting start though. Would have thought he’d be behind a number of them and even accounting for form I’d have been thinking both Stanton and Munn have him covered already?
I do enjoy how different managers view players differently too in comparison to others. Guess it shows we have a bit of depth and skill diversity to allow for such different views on selections.
Learn what you can from this game and move onto the next, a loss was expected. If you’re going to have a poor result have it against one you have no real chance of winning rather than losing to someone we should be beating. :)

Amazed you didn’t find use for Sutton in midfield. Sutton even being in middle form is by far and away our best midfielder that I can recall that it’s not even a contest.
A few others were surprising too but I have an idea of why they weren’t or were chosen so won’t spoil too much there. It’s your team at the moment so these are decisions you get to make and it’s fun seeing what someone else chooses to do with the list we have. 3-4 seasons ago there wasn’t much of a list of choice, the team picked itself.

GK's are even based on skills, except passing. Experience was a deciding factor here ;)

This is the best encouragement I can receive after this match!
Especially that our next opponent will be U.A.E, team that I expected we will be fighting for a 4th place in this group, but after their draw against Ireland this will be a match for a 3rd place midway this WCQ :)

We all have bad games or bad days. You also don’t get a lot of practice swings so when trying to work out what to do tactically against a stronger side there is always a rather large element of risk in which way that goes. I always believe it takes iterations of a tactic to get it the way you want to and you just don’t get that chance at nt level too often. It’s why most teams stick to something fairly similar and safe. However as the weaker side doing something like that effectively concedes the game even if it’s close.
Therefore you take that risk knowing it may work or completely fall flat and then you learn from it and improve the tactic for a later time or opponent.

Experience was a deciding factor her
why though, especially for a GK? It doesn't really matter

Good day to You all! I hope You have a fantastic weekend:)
Sorry for not hyping match with UAE, but IRL commitments took more time than usual. It was a tough match, but we won :) Which means that halfway through WCQ we ends up on 3rd place :)

What was Kearton doing as a striker sub. Lucky that wasn’t punished further.
A win is a win and that’s really what matters but I think you played that wrong myself. Could have been more aggressive knowing they had a back 7-8 and a lone striker. Instead you kind of played their tactic back against them and it turned it into a bit of a stalemate.

Nice work getting half way through and being in 3rd. I think it's definitely where we belong
Ireland beat Nederlands 2:1, so this group is still open for surprises :)

At first I didn't know what are You talking about, but after rechecking team comp I found out :X Thankfully it wasn't the other way around and Panoupoulos stayed on bench.... This is totally my fault and I'll triple check in upcoming matches

Thing is, that their coach rotate tactics quite often, similarly in this match. I was expecting different approach on their side in last phases, which is why I transitioned quite early into more defensive tactics - with usage of winning by .... conditionals ofc. When UAE switched to tactics with 2 wingers we were in big troubles, especially that even our best DEF, Myburg, struggled to keep with their winger/striker Tariq Abdu Mugri - I wish we had such player. And with all the honesty - if they would went with this tactics from the beginning, we would be on the opposite side.
On the other hand I totally agree that in early phase of the match I should have used more aggressive tactics - but I still can't find a good one that will work on NT level :(
