What was Kearton doing as a striker sub. Lucky that wasn’t punished further.

At first I didn't know what are You talking about, but after rechecking team comp I found out :X Thankfully it wasn't the other way around and Panoupoulos stayed on bench.... This is totally my fault and I'll triple check in upcoming matches

Could have been more aggressive knowing they had a back 7-8 and a lone striker. Instead you kind of played their tactic back against them and it turned it into a bit of a stalemate.

Thing is, that their coach rotate tactics quite often, similarly in this match. I was expecting different approach on their side in last phases, which is why I transitioned quite early into more defensive tactics - with usage of winning by .... conditionals ofc. When UAE switched to tactics with 2 wingers we were in big troubles, especially that even our best DEF, Myburg, struggled to keep with their winger/striker Tariq Abdu Mugri - I wish we had such player. And with all the honesty - if they would went with this tactics from the beginning, we would be on the opposite side.

On the other hand I totally agree that in early phase of the match I should have used more aggressive tactics - but I still can't find a good one that will work on NT level :(

Nice work getting half way through and being in 3rd. I think it's definitely where we belong

I'm just a man who tries to connect all the puzzles provided by community and their players (both current and alumni) :) If there were no engagement in past seasons with youths, we would be discussing if 4th place is over achieving (like I had in Nippon) ;)

Yeah fair. 2 wingers makes it hard to suggest a back 4. However, I think you could have also take an approach to choke their dms which would have the effect of stopping their wingers getting the ball. I guess I felt that our attack was pretty lacklustre and perhaps we could have controlled that a bit better by more ball and movement.

Still though as I said a win is still a win so it’s another nice result for us at the turn.

Not sure Ireland beating Netherlands was in our best interests but it makes the rest of the season interesting.

Our next opponent will be Mexico :) Team that Australia faced in last 2 WCQ groups.

Good day to You!

Tomorrow we face ranking wise stronger opponent Mexico. As usual bunch of statistics or observations:

Last time Australia and Mexico faced each other was in S68 and we lost 2:3. From history point of view from those 14 game we won 2 games, draw 4 and lost 8

Español -Mexico coach since S64, who is trying to bring them their glory. We faced each other 4 times already (back when I was a coach of Nippon), which quite even results :)

Currently they are playing at WCQ group A, where they keep 3rd place with only 6 points (surprising loss 3:0 against Malaysia)

Something about their stars:
Ulises Trafalgar [38210125] - 27y striker who is playing at ~82 marks and most importantly in top form.
Sebastian Toxqui [38080773] - 28y mid, who is playing at ~85 marks, nearly top form

After checking studio we can find out that Fans Expectations are "Your supporters hope the team won`t bring them too much shame in this match.. " and my thoughts are that it should be rather close match with draw being most fair result.

Match will take place at 9am server time and in case of any injuries I'll be able to switch any players from Americas.

I'll be testing more offensive tactic, so I'm not expecting a win here.

Until next time!

Quick glance at the match report and sadly we lost 0:2. Funny enough our 3 shots came from my current default tactic for Australia. Almost instantly after switching to more offensive tactics we lost a goal:( After I'll be back at home I'll watch full match and start preparing for a match against UAE

Why did you choose Mexico for the friendly? I think the most important goal should be to build up the rank position and it was obvious that getting even a draw against Mexico will be very unlikely...

Good day to You!

Tomorrow we start second round of WCQ matches. Our first opponent will be UAE. Bunch of statistics:

Last time Australia and UAE faced each other (before my election) was in S67 and we won 7:1 :) From history point of view we were usually better than them :(

gabrielli - ex coach of Russia U21 and Hungary, now third season in UAE NT role. Manager with huge ingame experience (account created in 2007), so I expect another great match :)

Something about their stars:
Tariq Abdu Mugri [38067019] - this guys is NUTZ. Last time our Myburg had big troubles keeping him in his winger position (and he played near 90 marks!). Thankfully for us, he is injured so as long as their coach will not use him with slight injury, we should not feel this player threat
Darren El Habib [37894790] - another slightly injured player who plays around 85 marks - this one is ATT. This time their coach had those unlucky injuries draw :(

After checking studio we can find out that Fans Expectations are "This match is expected to be a tough and even game by your supporters" and my thoughts are 25% for UAE/50 % draw/25% for Australia. Tactics wise, there is no consistency on UAE side, which proves that Gabrielli takes his game seriously and thrieve for better results in each game.

Match will take place at 9pm server time and in case of any injuries I'll be able to switch any players from Americas.

Tactic wise I'm already prepared, now triple checking conditional orders to not put Kearton on ATT role once again ;)

Until next time!

Better result than last time :) 4:1
2024-08-10 09:50:48
Yeah it was. I think the score line was unfair in our favour today though. We really should never have been 3 up in the first half. 2 of those we bobbled in rather than shot. I mean sure doesn’t matter how just if you do right?

They missed some brilliant chances at the other end and amazed me they didn’t score at least once there.

Once you made the substitutes we looked better defensively.

Not sure what to think about the tactic change when leading 3-0. On one hand we seemed to create less goal scoring chances whilst making us a little more vulnerable at the back but we also didn’t seem to give away as many clear cut chances either. I’m putting that down to subs but yeah not entirely sure if changing tactic was a good or bad move today.

Defensively I think you’re too deep in the last 2 rows. So many times you give them a throw and our defs are back in the goal box which against better sides will get punished. They need to come out so that it’s not an easy pass into the box.

Overall a better result then last time against UAE and sets us up nicely for a crack at finishing 2nd or 3rd in the group.

You do like Myers though :p. Probably wouldn’t make my starting 18 but appreciate that you’ve told me previously why you prefer him to others.

Actually it’s probably more like the 2nd last row rather than last 2 rows but I’d look at both anyway. If you know how tactics translate to field position you’ll see where to fix that really quickly.

Rewatched the match, first tactic worked fine, but not perfect.

I think the score line was unfair in our favour today though. - Totally agree with that, but sometimes there are such matches, where everything if working on Your favor :)

They missed some brilliant chances at the other end and amazed me they didn’t score at least once there. - 20 minute raid should have been a goal

I’m putting that down to subs but yeah not entirely sure if changing tactic was a good or bad move today. - As simple as it is, I also needed some practice with that tactics. Leading 3-0 and knowing that last time there were a stalemate allowed me to secure 3 points and watch small tweaks in tactics :)

Defensively I think you’re too deep in the last 2 rows - this I'll answer on sk@ :)

You do like Myers though :p. Probably wouldn’t make my starting 18 but appreciate that you’ve told me previously why you prefer him to others. - he is really high on my list, because tactics wise he can play many roles :)

Crazy match in our group - Nederland - Ireland 4:3.
Today's results caused some important decisions in group O:
- Belgium is out of our reach, so next match will be a mitigation of how much goal they will score against us. From statistic point of view, they have 3 points and 22 goal lead over us
- I believe Nederland is still within our reach, especially after their matches against Ireland. From statistic point of view, they have 3 points and 1 goal lead over us.
- We have 5 points and 9 goal lead over Ireland.
- We are missing 1 point to be 100% sure to have a 4th place.

Most important matches left in our group:
Round 8 - Nederland - Australia
Round 9 - Nederland - U.A.E. (I'm hoping this will be positive surprise)
Round 10 - Ireland - Australia and België - Nederland (matches will be played at the same time)

So until Ireland will win with Belgium and/or we will lose against Ghana I believe we will have at least 3rd place in this group :)

OK guys, some info that I believe I need to pass. Whatever the result of WCQ will be I'll need to step down from NT role due to health reasons. I'll fulfill my duties till end of my cadence, which means I'll do my best to snatch 2nd place from Nederland :)
I'm not sure about my ingame involvement but it may also be affected. If I know that I'll not be able to focus as much as currently, I'll sell Ishida so one can pick him up for training (I know I overpaid heavily).

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully it’s something that can be completely recovered from and you recover quickly. Good luck for that process, whatever form that takes.
