Asunto: National Team
So thoughts gonna be shared today :)
=======================================
First of all, I'm proud of this result. Taking third place and losing WC qualification only by goal difference is a huge accomplishment in my opinion :) If one of You told me at the beginning of this campaign that I'll get 3rd place and I'll lose WC participation by 'slight' difference, I would have told You that You are a mad man :) (maybe there is a better word for that, but I'm afraid of forum ban)
=======================================
History wise:
- last time Australia NT took 3rd or above was in S60 (coach K@rol)
- other 3rd place or above (30 seasons back only):
* agbell79 (S52)
* MITCHCLAN (S50)
* MrCopy (S46)
* midyat (S44)
* panter (S42)
- last time Australia was in WC was in S13 with experienced coach cometer (but with different account) taking a reins of it :)
=======================================
Ranking wise:
- when I took Australia NT - 61th place with 1,388.85ranking points
- Currently (before match with Ireland will be calculated) 59th place with 1,477.99 ranking points (should be close to 1500 after tomorrow's update)
=======================================
Now a bit of my nagging and self-loathing.
1 goal difference in favor of Australia in any match against Nederland would grant WC qualification - this is why self-loathing should come in.
First half of WCQ I played like I was playing it with Nippon. Tactic wise -> very defensive with a counter winger, which worked fine against slightly better teams with RNG involved against much stronger teams (I believe cometer can say something about it, since we had 5 games). Unfortunately, in match against Nederlands, they scored their third goal at 81 minute, so this time RNG was on their side.
Second half I decided to take more aggressive approach, and match against UAE (BTW their result is amazing in this season) was a first sign of what gonna come sooner rather than later. But then in match against Nederlands I basically throw a towel against them with using 'defensive tactics' in first half (we scored and have a much better field presence after playing this 5-3-2 without winger).
Special place for matches against Belgie. I have no fucking idea, how Australia can dominate Ireland 4:1 while playing 60 minutes without one player, that won against Belgie 5:1 using same staring eleven and tactics, and in the same time Australia lose 0:4 and 0:5 against Belgie. Those two matches are biggest downfalls of this WCQ in my opinion (not that we deserved a win or something)
=======================================
Final thoughts
I've gave my best to this NT and I was close to finish a Cinderella story. Unfortunately, older sister was chosen by a prince ;)
To whomever will be taking this NT after me: You have a lovely community, that is heavily focused at their NT and takes a pride in it. Don't disappoint them. With a bit of luck in draw (and maybe getting enough ranking points to be drawn from 3rd pot) next WCQ season is Australia time to shine :)
Tomorrow I'll prep stats from this WCQ :)

I mean it’s a tactical battle. If you saw the result of Belgium and Ireland pretty sure Belgium had more shots and chances.
The fact Ireland played deep defenders makes it easier to create goal scoring chances especially when they push their mids up.
That gave you the centre of the field to do whatever you wanted.
As for feeling remorse about not picking up a point against Netherlands, don’t be. You can just as easily flip the switch in some of our other matches and say had we scored one less we drop points or had Belgium not conceded to be the Netherlands late yesterday it also wouldn’t have mattered etc. Belgium losing to UAE was against the run as well.
As many times you can look at what you didn’t get but you can usually look at what you did get you didn’t think about.
Overall we weren’t expecting to be 2nd and we were probably slightly concerned about getting 4th at one stage. We got third in the end only losing points to the top 2. That’s a great result.

Brilliant effort, mangol. Punched above our weight and almost pulled it off!
Hello everyone, I decided to continue working mangol, some of you probably remember me because I was already here, I don't want to create an additional post, that's why I'm writing here, best regards
Hi Aussies :-)
Hi Buczek ;-)
I decided also to run for NT election here. I'm Stephane, 51yo. I played SK since 2006 till 2014 and i got 1 championship, 3 cups many 2nd and 3rd positions and a final in CC. Then i decided to start again with a new team for fun. I already lead NTs (France, Luwemburg, Nippon, Danmark). I would like to lead Australia team to the WC. It will be not easy of course but nothing is impossible in life :-)
I wish you good luck Buczek for this election and to all other manager interested in leading this nice NT.
Take care and enjoy life nothing else worth ;-)

It is a pity that Glazy first and you now quit the election :-(
For now, thx to the manager who voted for me :-)
If i'm elected or not, i'd like to lead the Mini WC competition as i did in the past. I asked to Maska who lead it during the 2 last ones if i can replace him. If he is OK, i'd also want to add Australia to integrate this competition. I hope that no one is against this idea.

I'd love to grill you (and any other people looking to manage the Aus NT) a bit, but have been flat out with real life unfortunately.
Hi guys!
I decided to run for the national team coach. I wish good luck to Steph !
Short introduction - my name is Dimitar. I have been playing since 2006 , with one break. So far I've led the national team of Bulgaria - men and youth. Bronze medals with the youth national team as well as with the men at the last world championship. At club level I have won titles and cup of Bulgaria.
I will not make any loud promises. But definitely, if the team enters the third stream for the draw, then with a good draw the chances of qualification are there...
Greetings from Bulgaria :)

Hi RIVELINO :-)
Nice to see you presenting for this election. It will give choice for aussies. Good luck to you too.

Thank you :)
I believe that whoever wins will do their best to achieve the team's goals. In order to avoid confusion, I suggest that you prepare the team program. As I said, will be very important for the team to enter the third stream. The points are not few. A little over 200 ... So,you should focus on teams from which you can "steal" something more. First of all - Iceland,Canada,Ireland,USA,Sweden - I see them as nice teams for this purpose.

A couple of questions for both of you to help people decide.
1. Which country have you been in charge of (U21 or NT) the longest and how long was it for?
2. How did you communicate and get the community involved? Are you able to link us to a forum post where you did this?
3. How long would you like to be involved with the Aus NT?
4. If ever, have you been involved with Australia or had interactions with Australian users before? Tell us about those interactions
5. a) Do you currently train, b) have you previously trained, c) Do you plan on training future Australian NT players even if they may be a little worse than your current trainees?
I think that's a good start :)

Here are my answers :
1- NT coach
France https://sokker.org/forum_topic/ID_forum/32306/ID_topic/2228606/pg/1 : 2 seasons
Luxemburg (closed forum) : 2 seasons but i do not remember if more
Nippon https://sokker.org/forum_topic/ID_forum/8389/ID_topic/3528091/pg/0#new : 3 seasons
Danmark https://sokker.org/forum_topic/ID_forum/1481/ID_topic/2599469/pg/109 : 3 seasons
2- Communication
I think i am quite known in international forum even if i do not talk as often as Borkos ;-)
I liked to help to get a quite update database. I helped my french community (i still do sometimes). I also helped to create a DB in Luxemburg, i updated a nippon DB, i also helped to rebuild a scottish DB when Steve discovered that the previous manager he replaced deleted all players from DB. I also update the danish DB. Nowadays, it is easier to update players if managers agree to let see skills of their players. And mangol told me that he uses a DB in Terrion's tool sokker assistente (same tool for danish DB). I also give results of games played. I also like to help international community when i can as now i replace Maska to organize the Mini WC. If RIVELINO win the election (which would be good too), i will still lead this competition. I registered Australia into this one.
3 - It depends if some Aussie want to take the NT or not. I think it is normal that the NT is led by internal manager. But if not and if i satisfy you guys, i will stay for a while.
4 - No, not really or i do not remember, maybe in old times.
5 - I think i trained an ATT a long time ago but i do not remember. For now, it is not a goal, at least, i'm not here now to absolutely train an australian player. My aim when i come back was to lead a homegrown team which i managed to do. Now, i still get few strong homegrown players and i hope to win few titles with my team (i was close this season in official games and i managed to win a Arcade competition led by tyfn1914. But who knows, if i find space and money to find the right player to train or finish to train, it could be nice.
I think that is all for now :-)

I'll try to answer your questions in summary :)
I've led 2 seasons Bulgarian youth national team , 1 season Serbia youth national team and 5 seasons Bulgarian men national team. In Bulgaria communication is done in a closed forum - Bulgarian Football Union.
We have adopted a closed forum because we discuss tactics for the upcoming match and the players who will play. As immodest as it may sound - in Bulgaria are gathered some of the best tacticians in soccer which is evidenced by the achievements of our small country. We have about 20 active users who are top level and everyone's opinion counts. At the last world championship the teams led by Bulgarians made a furore :) ... In our forum there have been discussions about the lineup and scheme for the upcoming match, which been going on all week :)
Basically I always lead the teams two to three seasons. In my opinion, that is the optimal time for a coach to get the most out of a team. After that a break is needed...
Unfortunately I haven't communicated with Australian users so far. I don't recall having coached any Australian players. In Bulgaria mainly active users train Bulgarian players. Maybe this is the secret of our success. We build our best players from a young age - we don't sell them for money and so we don't allow them to be trained incorrectly and ruin the player's career. Smaller countries with more modest opportunities need to retain their players. Especially the most talented!!!
