Australia - Hong Kong 2:0
What ? A win ? No !!... But yes !! :-)
Well, what to say, the 1st half was awful with a lucky goal by Bishop who dribbled all the 3 defenders in front and scored ! Lol !!
In the 2nd half, we had more clear chances and a new thing i never experimented in my SK life : 3 hit posts in 2 minutes !! :-D
Maybe a 4-0 or 5-0 should have been more realistic but a 2-0 even a 2-1 at the end could happen, thx to Munn.

Mais oui! Would have been good to put in a few more, but 18 shots shows that you did what you could to create chances. The big game now is next week.

India took a point off Israel in an even game.

Sometimes you just have to take the W in whatever form it comes in. Glad to see you’re off the mark at last. Been close a few times recently.

Thx a lot, yes it will be a hard game against India. Let's hope a win :-)

Sorry, i'm not sure to have understood what you wrote.
"Sometimes you just have to take the W in whatever form it comes in" : W = win ? Actually, i do not know what to do with Parkinson who is a top striker in top form but still be easily stopped by defenders and by GKs. Whereas in this game the opponent ATT managed to dribble almost all few actions faced to his defender (our defender is top defense + top form). Hopefully Munn managed to stop the 2 attempts during the match.
"Glad to see you’re off the mark at last" : if i use google translation it means that you tease me. Is it the case ? If yes, i don't understand the point and if not, could you another similar to explain your point please ?

The translation given for "to be off the mark" is traduced by ; i don't have undertood anything / i'm not aware at all / i'm a jerk

In English “glad to see you are off the mark” in the context used translates to “happy for you & well done…you are on your way” …it’s a compliment & form of encouragement.
Hopefully the tide has turned. :)

Haha, "off the mark" in this context just means you got your first win. I suppose "the mark" is where you first started. And it's usually used in sporting context... scored your first point/goal/run.

You can also be "way off the mark", which means "not even close". Google translate was way off the mark in this case. :D

Good luck against India. Lucky it's a friendly tournament, otherwise both Crampton and Parkinson would be out injured this week. I don't know when Parkinson got injured against Hong Kong, but that may explain his inability to beat his opponent. Hope he wears his scoring boots on next week.

Oh, fantum beat me to it. :)

Thx both for answer.
When i translated with many tools, it gave : être à côté de la plaque, être hors de propos.
Otherwise Parkinson was injured lately during the game.
Finally i had a good day : France 30-29 New Zealand :-)
But hard it was !!

Yeah as others have said the context was around you getting your first win for the season. I’ll try to remember to use more simplified expressions so as not to confuse you in future :).

The W did stand for win, and was simply trying to say sometimes it doesn’t matter how or what happens so long as the end result was in your favour. Often used to describe situations where you had a poor game but still won or where you got fortunate etc but in this case it was in reference to the fact we were playing Hong Kong and whilst we had so many more chances and should have won by more than 2, we still won which was the most important thing.

Yes thank you so much. Translation tools are really confusing sometimes :-)

You got the weekend double with the rugby result adding to SK win.
There’s been some belter rugby matches these last 2 weekends….Wallabies kick starting with their win at Twickenham. Even the Italy v Georgia game was in the balance to the end.

Australia - India 1:2
What an awful tactic used by me... I feel sorry. It is a logical result, we should have lost with more gap... With such bad results since the beginning it is forbidden for me to tempt to be elected for the following season. Australia doesn't worth this such bad season. I will try to do my best till the end but surely it is time to look for the right coach for the next season who could bring back fair results as mangol did last seasons for instance. I'm really sorry.

Haven’t seen the game, just the report so far. Sometimes though if you feel under pressure or you push too hard for a result you end up trying something that just doesn’t work. This then adds more pressure and results in future tactical mistakes. Can be difficult to get out of if you get stuck in that cycle.

I don’t know how much time you put into the tactical side (only you will know that) but there’s a lot you can work out if you really want to. Comes down to how you prepare, evaluate and work out the finer details about the opponents thought and your own. There is a lot of self learning you can do and it’s through that process that you end up getting better results. Perhaps that’s part of the problem? How long do you assess yourself instead of your opponents? If it works at club level and not NT level why?

It’s always a risk in whatever tactic you play, especially if it’s a new one. The tactic sometimes just doesn’t work no matter how much you put into it. That will always happen but it’s what you learn from that experience that determines if this is once off result or more frequent.

Did you mean to play 6 with defender role?

As I understand, that's us out of the Cup, so we can focus on some strategic friendlies for ranking. Keep at it, Stef. Got an opportunity for a strong end to the season.

@ cometer : i spent about 2-3 hours to prepare this tactic adapting this one to a similar tactic i used with my own team but changing some points due to some lacks on some positions.
The main fail with this tactic was the height of the ATT line, too low in some areas (passes directly from DEF to ATT) or too high and with no long passing between opponent DEF line. The 2nd main fail was that my 2 wingers were almost useless as i hope to use them.
In a more irritating view, i was a bit upset that the opponent ATT Kalyan Shrirang [38523995], even if he is good, could dribble the Aussie' DEF line in front with too much ease whereas our DEF are in top form and with top level in DEF skills... Hopefully is already a monster GK.
@ oscar : yes, i voluntarily used 6 DEF to block the opponent MID but using the DEF skills of the 2 DEF-MID used. But it did not work as hoped. Otherwise, we are not out in the Asian Cup, there is a 2nd round for all the 3rd-4th postion teams to fight together.
