Asunto: National Team

Crews has been already provided with tech training. Shipley will get his as soon as reaches 17 striker. Should take him another 5-6 weeks approx.

Terje really is an exception, he is the best since Trajcevski

I'm sure you are fully aware but just listing the most promising for each age group over the past number of seasons (and what age they should be now).

32 - Crampton** (McConville)
31 - Franklin (Ponting)
30 - Parkinson**, Boyd**, Greenwood*, Panopoulos
29 - Zillman (Harvey)
28 - Mitchell*, Collina* (Oliveira, McColl)
27 - Chapman, O'Sullivan, Goulding (Hickmann, Stanton, Richards)
26 - Lang* (Karavatakis, Nesic)
25 - Crews*, Prince*, Caceras*, Elliot (Gallagher)
24 - Shipley**, Morgan*, Bourne* (Jayanthi, Harries, Wheelhouse)
23 - Zdrillic* (Rose, Griffiths)
22 - Bonetig**, Waite* (Skaife, Langdon)

Obvisouly good and bad training can mean some of these have been wasted or other players have moved up the ranks
Those in brackets as others I had listed as strikers but I don't think will be future NT, or at least not for a long time if they do

** - equal or better than 3x Incredible (13) at end of U21
* - 37 or 38 points at end of U21

We end the qualifiers with a win, which will bring us some more ranking points. I really wanted to finish one place ahead, but unfortunately in the company of France and Bulgaria our strength was not enough. I hope the campaign has brought you more positive emotions.
I've put in my bid for national coach for another cycle. First I want to thank all managers coaching players for the national team! You guys are doing great! I think we have a chance to make it to top 48. That will be the goal for me. I am confident that Australia has the strength to fight for a World Championship qualification. That will be the main goal for the team. With a few of the younger players , I think the team has a good future. If you think I have justified your confidence in the past qualifiers you can vote for me. Also,if you think I have not achieved the desired goal I can withdraw my candidacy.

I do wonder what level Zillman could have achieved without the 2-3 season injury debacles, where I swear he missed at least a season of games (certainly felt that way).
Currently 14(almost 15)/15/16…& still being trained for now (the curse of pace training at his age).

Injuries are the worst thing in this game. If he not missed that many practices in total , he would surely be 3x16 +++ . And that would definitely be a good choice.
Regarding training - it is very important to pick up speed while the player is young - that is clear. By the end of 22 the player should already be 15 pace. A while ago when seasons were longer there was time and training so that the player's technique was 1-2 levels below pace. But now it is fashionable to move goal after speed because it is the second hardest to pick up. For example - at 22 the player should be 15/13/14 or 15/12/14...
I have an observation ... this is my theory,I'm not saying it's exactly right, but I think the examples with many players in Bulgaria confirm it - when the training is reversed and the player has less pace and more technique and goal, the contact with the opponent's defenders is much more because the player is slow. No matter how technical he is he can't break away from the defence... When you put a player like that in safe tactics there is no problem, but when he plays more in official matches then the chance of getting injured becomes higher.

Second hardest to pick up?? Pace is number 1 hardest to train over time, so pace in start is priority.... but also bit of balance for u21 results.... pace to 12, other primaries to 11, then full on pace to 15-16 (the level under what you want him to end at)

Yeah. Tempo is number 1...goal is second hardest and technique is easiest to train. So now with the shorter seasons the emphasis is mainly on speed , but unlike before when we wanted to use younger players in the main squad train speed and technique to be 1:1 to make the player more breakthrough , now you train speed and goal , and leave technique for later.
If you are late to train pace it becomes very difficult to train later on . A lot of people have already confirmed it - with the new changes, as you get older, speed training slows down more than it used to. That's why you are now looking for the player at the end of 22 to be 15 or at worst 14++++

you mean for strikers right, def is equal to tech, pass and pm faster, gk fastest (excluding stamina)

But you are right about strikers.... but for instance to train to 16 pace but no tech or scoring is useless.... 12-11-11 then pace is free.... an minimum of 11 tech-striker for strikers, 12 def-6 tech for defs, 10 pass-pm, 9 tech for mids is needed for them to perform...

I find with the younger ages, train pace until they are 19, if tech and striker are say 9, then keep training pace until 20, then look at rounding out players for as long as we are playing official matches over the next two seasons.
As soon as we are out of official matches, or if tech/stri get to 12, then back on to pace.

Defenders, just train pace until 20 (assuming def isn't extremely low) then look at getting def up to form/outs for the start of the 21yo year.

Mids similar story.

Each player needs to be looked at individually though as no one training regime fits everyone (ie my Lane is a MID but his PM was like Hopeless/Poor so he required some PM training to be useful), but generally training pace until the start of 20 for many players, will set them up to be rounded out in skills for the 21yr and not hinder their long term training for seniors.

Also for players who are unlikely to play beyond u21s, they can not push pace as far and aim to be great u21 players with some earlier rounding of skills.

Keepers I like to have an unearthly/divine keepers at the back if possible. So they get pace until they need to receive GK training so that they hit that unearthly/GK mark by the time they take over as number 1 keeper

I took note from the earlier discussions & switched young players to pace, as not aware beforehand regarding which skills trained faster & the relevant age effects….looking forward to the difference for those who need pace boost.
We’ll see if it’s enough to sneak some into NT calculations later on.

I find the recipe pace to 12 or 13, then position primaries to 11 (12 if defender), then pace again to the level below what your final goal as 27 yo, is very easy to follow and understand.

Just to add - what I said about speed applies mostly to defenders and forwards. With midfielders it's not exactly like that, unless we're talking about a winger. For inside midfielders level 15 speed is enough and you don't need to push that skill so much.

This is the program until week 8:

W01 : España
W02 : Indonesia
W03 : Nederland
W04 : Chile
W05 : Uruguay
W06 : Canada
W07 : Cuba
W08 : Bolivia

I've been looking for opponents against which ranking points can be earned. Basically these are opponents that give us a chance to make up the gap to 48th place. On paper the teams are stronger than us,but if we want to move up we have to play these teams. I still wonder if we should sign up for the Asian Cup. So I have left the weeks after week 9 free for now. According to the new rules, friendly matches do not provide an opportunity to gain tactical discipline and experience. Also no injuries. So we will play with the best players in these matches.
We start with a very strong team - Spain. It's a pity that it is against them that Burke and Renaud have red cards, but we will have to think of something to perform decently.
