The Current Season
Oh no, it's me again coming back to have another crack at managing the NT. This season was a very different season to past seasons I've managed, I continually did well with the NT despite struggling badly with my club side and ended up getting relegated. With the NT however, I was able to win every game up until now except for the game against Turkiye where I was absent having a good time in Queensland, and the strange draw we had against Rossiya.
This brings me to my first goal when I started this campaign - Improving ranking points. We went from having our ranking points at just above 1700 at the start of the season, to having over 1900 ranking points now and we have clearly jumped from a 4th seed last qualification season to a 3rd seed with an extreme outside chance of a 2nd seed. In accordance with this I wanted to go as far in the MWC as possible. Well we went the whole way except for the fact we ended up going down in the final.
The next goal I had was creating the minimum requirements. I managed to accomplish that as well, ok it wasn't extremely hard to do, but it hopefully made some sense and gave some indication as to where players should be to be considered a NT player. I tried to encourage people to send more players across to develop a better grip of what is coming up before they're in their prime to get onto them early enough to train appropriately. Whether or not this response was as effective as I had planned, I was able to get a few responses from people during the season.
The final goal about forum activity and communicating with you more than last season was a little scrappy sometimes. Whenever I could I'd try to give some sort of indication of who we were up against, what I expected to happen and left the door open for any suggestions. Most games were relatively easy and apart from the MWC there really wasn't that much on the line, other than maintaining a 3rd seed ranking. Next season will be much different.
Sokker Achievements
I've been playing 9 seasons of Sokker now and have now controlled the national team for the past 4 seasons.
My achievements in Sokker in the 9 season period have been:
2 time A League champion
1 time Australia Cup Winner
1 time Australia Cup Runner-up
1 time Australia Cup Semi-Finalist
1 time Qualifier for World Cup (Australia)
1 time Mini World Cup Runner-up (Australia)
For those that weren’t around last season I’ll add the same thing as last season’s election although many of you now know how I operate.
Reasons why you might want to vote for me:
- I'm a dedicated user and spend quite a large amount of time on Sokker and would find time to dedicate to managing an NT side.
- I'm a decent tactician, definitely not the world's best but still improve with every match and guarantee I have serious thinking before every match about the best approach to the game.
- Easy to talk to person who enjoys new challenges and is always prepared to listen to pretty much everything including criticism.
Possible reasons why you might not want to vote for me:
- I’m an Australian user which would mean I would be competing against some of you in the league and I would most likely have to know the NT player skills if I am elected. I consider myself honest enough that I wouldn’t abuse this privilege in any form.
- I've been here 4 seasons in a row and you might be getting a little tired with the same manager again as well as potentially other managers waking up to how I play tactically ;).
Goals for the new season if re-elected
1) Qualify for the world cup. No if's no but's I aim to qualify for the world cup and if I don't I'll consider that a sign of poor management, unless we get a terribly dodgy draw, like Poland,Mexico,us,Uruguay etc you get the picture.
2) Continue to set good standards for managing the NT via communication to and from users, considering their ideas in relation to the upcoming match or where they want the NT to head towards as well as trying to keep the forums active.
3) Better management of things such as age rankings, running competitions longer rather than towards the back end etc.
Thats about it, fire away with questions (if you have them).

I vote for you if Haereiti keeps playing for Australia !
Maybe it was out of your control, but we should have won against Russia, and had a better result against Turkey. Apart from the missed friendly last week (also out of your control), there's not much I can criticise yet.

The Current Season
A season which saw us playing a lot more attacking type football, even against stronger NT's. No surprises then we broke our goalscoring record for a season and had quite a few high scoring games. A few really strong performances against Croatia and Brazil went without a win but our campaign was incredibly good up until the last round against Uruguay where we had our own fate in our hands but due to technicalities (a horrid run in work wise, followed by a 7-8 hour Saturday where I was unavailable), left little time to sufficiently analyze and make sure we destroyed Uruguay. In saying that we still had our 2 best strikers out and the ones coming in had chances to put us through but we were unable to do so and missed. Shattering way to finish an otherwise enjoyable season.
So I did fail that first objective but I made a reasonable run at it, given we were put into a group which was extremely difficult since 2 new NT's got put into 3rd seed's shunting South Africa and Uruguay back to 4th seeds (and we drew Uruguay as a 4th seed, instead of say India). The thing is there is always a next time and the positives to take away were that we challenged the top teams in the group and were rewarded with a couple of points.
2nd and 3rd objective I hope I satisfied at least to a reasonable level. Age rankings kind of died, but it's coming back as soon as I get the chance to spend a few hours slogging away at it. The competition was meant to be a bit of fun and was a different kind of competition then in past seasons. A lot of effort went into that and a few times I got caught behind updating scores but I think it went down rather nicely in the end.
Sokker Achievements
I've been playing 10 seasons of Sokker now (I feel old already) and have now controlled the national team for the past 5 seasons.
My achievements in Sokker in the 10 season period have been:
2 time A League champion
1 time Australia Cup Winner
1 time Australia Cup Runner-up
1 time Australia Cup Semi-Finalist
1 time Qualifier for World Cup (Australia)
1 time Mini World Cup Runner-up (Australia)

Goals for the new season if re-elected
1) Mini World Cup if it's happening. Got a score to settle from two seasons ago when I wasn't around for the final to prepare properly. I want to win that this time ;).
2) Make sure we can't possibly get another shocker draw in qualifying. Asking a lot here but I think we've had our fair share of difficult draws. To avoid any problems I'm aiming to get our ranking into the top 28 and get a #2 seed for the next qualification season and this should be obtainable.
3) A bit more activity pre-game to make NT games a little more interesting.
4) Listen to you all a lot more and seek a bit more opinions about how the NT progresses. I am here because you've chosen me, so it's important you're happy about how it's progressing.
Thats about it, fire away with questions (if you have them).
(That's the great thing about being a 6th campaign, you've basically finalized a campaign speech to re-use for future ones, without having to make too many modifications :p )

Slacker!! My Malaysian campaign and speech has changed pretty much every time - with some of the same goals and some different in each different campaign! Hopefully i can get a 3rd term in Malaysia!

Always Uruguay *grumbles*
Can we get an Australian player database? (Like the ones some other countries have, where you can see the top players for each age group and position, based on weighted point scores.) (like the Italian one)
Might be better than the age rankings thread...

pretty sure that the Italian one is just for Italian managers[grr] i found that one out the hard way[grr].. (there is the rixstudios one that Malaysia and a number of other NT's use) which has the same sort of idea there.. however it is essentially up to dave as to what he finds easiest to use
The only thing it would be better for would be for everyone to view it without myself having to actually post it. All the ranking scores get spit out from the database I've got, all that needs doing is to put it into a text editor and then paste away, but it still takes a few hours to do that as there's so many positions and age groups to get through, as well as keeping a backup copy of the previous standings, for reference.
Well I guess the other thing is you can then submit instead of a single copy paste sokkermail saving you around 20-30 seconds each week.

Wait to you get to 6, you'll see you've said basically everything that needs to be said and find yourself repeating points you've already got ;).

Glad to see you back for more. You've done a great job with the team and the community. However, there are still milestones yet to be reached and it's great to see you still have the hunger.

Yep, scoring a goal in a world cup, getting past the group stage in a world cup, winning the MWC, getting a 2nd seed in qualification just to name a few. I've been to a WC before but then had an absolute shocker of a time in it, got harshly treated against Norway, server crashed for virtually the entire Saturday against Slovakia then we got pipped by Italy, but I've still got things I know I can achieve and I intend to achieve them and the absolute failure of that WC still drives me to want to get back there and have another crack ;).
I'll need to probably come up with some variations on using Willis as well, pretty hard not to play him where he is but it's also pretty hard to drop him to play another style given how superior he is to the rest of our midfielders.

Haha this is my 9th campaign in Malaysia! first 4 i failed to win.. won 1 season.. then missed another 2.. last season where I won and now this one - Election speech has changed considerably since the first season i campaigned!
haha yeah I totally forgot about that. Hope you get a 3rd term (2nd consecutive) as you had a few reasonably good results, especially in that 2nd half.
Yeah! so do I!! Stoked with the Chile game (6-3 loss but was leading at HT) Beating India twice, and Getting Malaysia's highest ever winning margin, best result in a WCQ for Malaysia...
Was thinking of Applying for the Aussie job some time down the track but I am trying to get some stability in Malaysia at the moment!
