With the new season starting, the total wages for my players went up by $20320...
That's roughly the equivalent of a ticket income from a friendly...

Yeah it sucks when you lose your qualification game. Worst of all it affects end of season bonus, been there done that!!!!!!
On the plus side I won my qualie and the sponsors are very happy +$67k to $234k :)

the logic is to stop camping in a division iirc. Basically because it is possible if you keep winning to be earning more than in the bottom of the next division because you keep attracting new supporters and keep fans and sponsors happy. For example towards the end of last season I was earning less than some of the top division 2 sides.
That's why it's meant as a disincentive to lose playoff matches but it does still have an effect sadly on those who aren't trying to lose the game.
Within 3-4 weeks you'll be earning what you were anyway, especially with the cup matches.
Not saying I agree with it or disagree with it though as it can be quite harsh on sides not strong enough to promote.

+24k here, but I'm yet to replace a starter and may well replace 2 more starters in the near future.
+26.4k here... but I will be selling a number of players shortly
yeah my salaries went up 20k sponsorship down 50k, or down 140k from beginning of last season. Should be alright once I flog off a large number of players.
