Asunto: S13 - Australia Cup

2008-07-16 17:28:57
Well I finally watched the match against the frogs, and I tell you what, my players could do nothing wrong in that first half.

The match was definitely closer then the scoreline suggests, and I must say, something appeared "weak" about both sides defenders. I know my players would not normally be dribbled like that and I wouldn't expect the Frogs defence to be dribbled so easy.

Anyway, for me it is good to see our matches result flipped around and hard luck to naph to go down by such a big scoreline also.

Just one more week to see who the Aus cup champ will be this season, I'm certainly hoping I can beat the almost "untouchable" side of TBF

Congrats to FootballGod_7 and commiserations to Achmid.

Was a more interesting game than the 1-0 scoreline might suggest, but I thought TBF deserved the win.

Yeah I'd agree that TBf deserved the win. It was always going to be a tough ask to beat the toughest team in Australia, and going down 1-0 to them is certainly nothing to be ashamed of.

I'm not sure how or who is going to be the team that finally knocks them off their throne or atleast challenges them regularly but it could still be a while to come.

Congrats FootballGod_7, I will win an Aus cup one day

Bad luck Achmid, gave it a good shake this season.

They'll come down to the field again, well at least the top few sides in the A league. I think you had the right idea with a few minor issues, which had they been slightly different may have resulted differently.

They'll be beatable but I think you needed to back the strikers back a fraction and try and stretch the defense rather than wasting a lot of balls on the wing. There were a few moments when you'd break through on the wing then the winger decided to pass backwards instead of run further, or times when your strikers were offside.

Think the thing you missed in the tactic (one of the only few I might add) was if you watch carefully in your attacking half, you had virtually the whole centre of the pitch free for TBF midfielders to gain the ball get your players turning back and set up their attacks relatively comfortably. Pretty hard to stop them once they start doing that, but it's not easy to stop them anyway ;).

Congrats on a 2nd place finish, you were the next best behind TBF but they're just too strong atm.
