Asunto: Competition Season 13

2008-08-15 14:56:47
You've got until kickoff to name a final captain but you have to nominate a captain and stick by it. I haven't allowed having conditional captains, so you'll need to go with one and hope they play. Just adds another dimension to the competition. Anyway, I'm going to work out scores and such now.

Willis for me. :)

In divine form, he's going to dominate!
2008-08-15 15:22:06
I don't know
how would you know who will play ?
2008-08-15 15:50:28
I think I might be in a little patch of trouble if Willis goes well ;).
2008-08-15 15:54:13
If we qualify, I will rely on our backline to score some big points in some tough matches ;)
2008-08-15 16:06:14
don't know really. The games against Brazil and Croatia are teams likely to make the world cup. I doubt I'd suddenly switch to being super defensive if we qualified, I'd rather continue what we've been doing, of course I'd certainly look at fixing the defensive issues we had against Brazil. Anyway points coming, just worked them out. Willis tops the scoring this week (don't think that will surprise too many given he did get 6 assists).

storey for captain
2008-08-15 16:17:36
Well, my theory is that the defenders will be more busy ;)

But obviously not in the Brazil second game...

3) oowie - 179 points
4) Minkee - 177 points
5) jkhtong1 - 170 points
6) naphtali - 165 points

12) neoatomium - 92 points
13) sx890410 - 85 points
14) Sriram - 85 points
15) krayzee - 82 points

Cha-Ching for vivski indeed. Getting awfully tired of this, but for the 5th time in 6 rounds vivski wins the round. The gamble appears to be working a charm. Borkos the next best with 196, 54 points behind a runaway vivski. Most other teams all scored over 100 in what was a pretty high scoring round for the group.

Overall Fantasy Team Results

1) vivski - 1239 points
2) cometer - 1128 points
3) borkos007 - 1122 points
4) jkhtong1 - 1109 points
5) Minkee - 1062 points
6) Schmick - 964 points
7) naphtali - 962 points
8) Achmid - 948 points
9) Tigermaster - 898 points
10) oowie - 847 points
11) Cloete - 802 points
12) krayzee - 718 points
13) Sriram - 707 points
14) sx890410 - 595 points
15) neoatomium - 542 points

Only significant change was borkos moving ahead of jkhtong1 into 3rd but closing the gap on myself. Vivski puts his foot on the acceleration pedal and disappears from the field and now has over 100 points on everyone. Don't think it will ease up this week either, could be a 6 from 7.

Byers
2008-08-15 17:03:05
It certainly helps having the top 4 in my team! Still a couple of rounds with Willis as captain, so hopefully the best is yet to come. :D

Timpano and Broxton have been the difference. Without their support of the big 2, my scores would be mediocre at best. Don't get injured now lads!

I think Willis has really eclipsed anyone's expectations. We knew he was good, but he's been unstoppable this season!
2008-08-15 17:15:16
Well he's really about where I expected him to be, I guess I had the stats so I knew just how capable he was of producing high quality results. Difference is the one skill he lacked in at the start of last season (not this) is no longer a weakness in his game and that's made a massive difference, along with our striker's improvement. In saying that though, the amount of assists he's generated this season is beyond what I expected and hoped for but I knew if the cards fell down the right way he was more than capable of producing what he's been doing. Form is the other major factor in Willis' sudden explosion shall we say over the past few weeks.

Hirons as captain. Asking for one really solid performance scoring wise for Hirons where he gets 40-50 points, just so Willis doesn't totally kill my chances of catching vivski ;).
2008-08-16 11:02:05
I'd say Byers as captain
2008-08-16 12:47:44
why does Maras never play ? :(
2008-08-16 12:49:03
he is 21yo and still weaker than Byers and Hirons, especially in striking which is a crucial skill in the system Australia plays...
