Asunto: Competition Season 13
he is 21yo and still weaker than Byers and Hirons, especially in striking which is a crucial skill in the system Australia plays...

Stupid work taking up all my Friday and then Saturday morning as well.
I can't believe this of all weeks I didn't get Hirons in as my captain :(

I don't have any excuse... I just realised I didn't post a captain either... but I've actually been posting in this thread -after- cometer made the reminders... :/
(Would have chosen Timpano again, but I guess it can't count.)

besides which you've already used Timpano 3 times I'm pretty sure. Was surprised Hirons performed so well, wasn't really expecting it but I suppose it was due ;).
c'mon, Andora isn't a big country
Why don't protect best players ?
Why don't protect best players ?
Because group stages need as many goals as possible to secure (3rd?) spot.
I also then follow Poland's lead and considering I've been strong against it, I don't follow suit.
I take a different belief then most. If it's a WCQ regardless of who we are playing, I'll go in with our best XI. Goal difference can be crucial but even if it wasn't I'd still go in with 1st XI. Cards/Suspensions aren't a problem, Timpano i think is suspended for next week but we don't have a qualifier and well injuries happen but they also happen at club level so there's no point not playing a player when they're going to play for the club anyway.
Finally, if we do happen to occasionally get an injury or suspension, we've got the depth to cover it. You can look at who's missing out on games to know what we've still got if we get injuries.
GK: Pottier,Deeley,Lawton,Lewis
DEF: Haereiti,Langdon,Kilkenny, Burns etc
MID: Zdrilic, Thompson, Beauchamp, Tarka, Bourke
ATT: Maras, Croxall, Richter, Stephenson just to name a few.
So yeah, it's just a personal preference in that if it's a WCQ you play your best side possible and I continue to stand by that belief ;).

Agreed. Not necessary to take the risk against weaker teams. Rather risk losing a player than forfeiting the WC through an unlucky game.
Did i get a captain? At first i said Tarka just to see if i could get you to play him, that wasnt really serious.
I wasnt going to log in before kickoff to see the answer to the Maras playing. I didnt think he was but other people were picking him. Thus the conditional thing...

I'll have to think stronger about this when tallying up the points. Chances are you won't have a captain though for consistency reasons. I can't suddenly allow conditional decisions or selecting a captain after the match.
Ohh im sorry i cant log in as often as some of you guys.
That's not the point I'm making. It's not the fact of who has less time but I have to set the bar somewhere and I set it early in this competition, because people wanted to make strategic choices based on who plays so you had two bites of the cherry and I made the call then that only one was allowed and I can't suddenly change that rule 3/4 into the season. I've tried to even make this competition less of an effort than I have of other competitions as I always try to come up with something different each season to accomodate different kinds of people.
I admit there are times when I've been a bit slow in updating and reminding people of games, but this one was and has been a scheduled WCQ from week 1, I'll get the next one up earlier because I'm still unsure of the next format, I was hoping either a 2nd XI or a 2nd div and under match but I'm yet to arrange a game due to time issues myself.
I'm sure many people have time issues, I've even got them myself and most will notice it in one form or another by late responses to skmails, low activity on forums even if I don't explicitly state it. I've tried to make it less time consuming so that you only need to post 1 time a week but then you aren't totally ruined if you miss a week as you still score points, whereas in other competitions I've run you haven't. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but it's just I had to draw the line somewhere and stick to it. Had their been a match like this week with an unscheduled match and unknown format and I hadn't arranged it say by Friday then I'd consider giving everyone a free exception due to being down to my fault for not notifying everyone sooner, (I actually did this for the first round as it was a rather late start to the competition).

Round 10 Fantasy Team Results
1) vivski - 216 points
2) borkos007 - 173 points
3) cometer - 173 points
4) jkhtong1 - 151 points
5) naphtali - 143 points
6) Cloete - 143 points
7) Achmid - 123 points
8) Tigermaster - 121 points
9) oowie - 78 points
10) Minkee - 78 points
11) Schmick - 77 points
12) sx890410 - 50 points
13) Sriram - 43 points
14) krayzee - 42 points
15) neoatomium - 35 points
Vivski wins again thanks to a brilliant performance from Broxton. Might also add that even a few who didn't select captains managed to score well simply because Broxton had such a field day. I don't think vivski is going to be caught. At this stage I intend to end the competition after our week 15 friendly with Venezuela, so I think that makes 4 more rounds, 2 1st XI matches, 1 U21 match and a match against Hayastan (which should be 2nd XI).
Overall Fantasy Team Results
1) vivski - 1455 points
2) cometer - 1301 points
3) borkos007 - 1295 points
4) jkhtong1 - 1260 points
5) Minkee - 1140 points
6) naphtali - 1105 points
7) Achmid - 1071 points
8) Schmick - 1041 points
9) Tigermaster - 1019 points
10) Cloete - 945 points
11) oowie - 925 points
12) krayzee - 760 points
13) Sriram - 750 points
14) sx890410 - 645 points
15) neoatomium - 577 points
Not a great deal of change. Naphtali and Achmid both move up 1 spot, whilst Cloete and oowie switch places. Vivski with a handy lead at the right end of the season and with 6 round wins from the past 7 rounds has certainly got every right to be in the lead.

Well captain usages have been updated for those interested in knowing who they've still got left to pick from.
Next up is a game against Hayastan, we(Australia) will be going in 2nd XI unless I quickly find out otherwise.
