Asunto: Competition Season 13
Hirons' fouls killed my points.
Having watched just 1 game I can already think of a bunch of changes I'd make to my side. Oh well.

already wishing you picked byers/willis? me too :(
think Haereiti will score a few. I took the assumption that defensive wings see more of the ball, therefore I selected both my defs as those who play on the outside.
Hirons will hurt a fraction.

Looks like a few of us got bitten by line-up tonight with Timpano only playing 35'. I would have swapped captain to Broxton had I known.
Would it be possible to PM people who select a captain not selected for a full game?
Yet to watch the game, but if it played out anything like the Czech game I think I'll be pretty happy with things. :D

Wow, just watched the game... Baveas absolutely killed it! I counted nearly 20 passes by head and foot.
Nikas and Haerati scored well but not quite as much as I expected. Still out-performed the mids, capitalising on Uruguay's broad forward structure.
Interesting results. Broxton was in a key position but it was only the assist and a penalty box tackle that got him ahead of Timpano who only played 35-mins. Although I'm going off my rough stats. The official results could look quite different of course.

Timpano was really used off the bench as I wanted to apply pressure with our mids when they had the ball and wanted Timpanos skills to dictate once Uruguay started to tire. Timpano should have possibly had an assist except Byers decided to run into the keeper. With Baveas,Oliveira,Timpano a lot depends on current form and what my plan of attack is. They are all capable of playing the full game.
Going to be fun to score some of this stuff. Anything I get that I consider a 50-50 type situation and I decide not to award points for I'll try to explain when I go to sum this up, saw quite a few passes that could be interpreted differently from 1st viewing but I'll be consistent.

Would be weak if people were allowed to pick alternate captains. If it's like a fantasy league competition, you really don't know who's going to play and who's not. You pick your captain knowing full well you run the risk of not having someone play the game at all.
Good point, was something I didn't consider, taking back my previous statement as I fully agree it's a luck of the draw thing.

Well, it would be good to tend towards letting people capitalise on knowledge of the NT rather than rolling the dice. Just throwing the idea out there.
Certainly tricky to get the passes tallied consistently. So much of a good pass relies on the receiver reading it or using their pace to run onto it. I'm sure you'll sort out a way of allocating the points.

Yeah I know where you're coming from but this way allows another way of splitting the group but then again there is advantage of knowledge since I've been around long enough of who's likely to play the game as I tend to favour those with form to those without. Timpano isn't defensively as strong as some of the other midfielders, and given his form was lower than the other two it was at least from my side likely he was going to get the less game time. I did a similar thing when Baveas was low in form as Baveas often started off the bench or got subbed early.
Calculating points will be done either tomorrow or tuesday at the latest.

ok looks like I've just calculated points. I'll do a complete recheck before our next game to make sure my score is consistent. Accurate passes was the hardest to judge on. I've gone with if a pass ends up with our player without an opposition player touching it, then it gets credited with being accurate, otherwise there were too many 50/50 decisions, so to eliminate that I simplified what an accurate pass was. Goalkeeper saves was another awkward issue. Decided that anything which comes off an overpass or a fumble from a last minute attempted tackle doesn't go down as a clean save. Must be a save from a shot.
Other than that the rest was pretty straight forward to judge on.

Ando - 13 points
Burns - 11 points

Round 1 Fantasy Team Results
1) cometer - 149 points
2) Schmick - 95 points
3) jkhtong1 - 84 points
4) Sriram - 77 points
5) tigermaster - 76 points
6) Achmid - 74 points
7) borkos007 - 74 points
8) vivski - 71 points
9) sx890410 - 70 points
10) oowie - 65 points
11) Minkee - 64 points
12) Cloete - 60 points
13) krayzee - 47 points
14) naphtali - 40 points
As we've got more than 13 users entered, my finishing position counts for nothing, as that's the promise I made but I'll keep my score there anyway.
Thing to note with the first round. Those who had Hirons or Timpano as captain ended up with low scores. Those who had Baveas,Haereiti or Nikas as captain ended up with a reasonably high score. Those who had at least 2 of the top 3 ended up with a great score and in the rare case anyone had all 3 including one of them as captain, well they ended up with a pretty high score for the round.
Outside defenders scored better than central defs this week as Uruguay played with wide players. Players on the same side as the winger also scored cheap, easy accurate pass points (That is Baveas,Nikas,Mangos)
Strikers didn't perform so well this week as we only had 9 shots for the game.
I'd be expecting defenders to score better again this week against Croatia and potentially even goalkeepers to score well if we have to save a lot of shots.

shouldnt you count for nothing if one more player enters, because then we have 11 players with 3 subs
yeah, we have got 15, only 14 entered last round but we've had another entrant since then.
