Asunto: New animations

The Sokker development team is delighted to announce that the match engine has now been further improved. 16 new animations, including diving motions from the goalkeepers and goal celebrations, were added.

New flash files increase the viewer’s size from 178 KB to 1.5 MB and two new sounds (~160 KB) were added, too. This will increase the download time a little when you use the new match viewer for the first time, because the new parts have to be cached by the browsers. For every further match the download should take place as fast as before as the data needed for each match remains unchanged.

The new match viewer is to be tested on the friendly NT matches on the 26th July. The changes are permanent and all subsequent matches will be generated by this new match engine. We do not expect important bugs as changes to the match engine itself are minimal. Please note that the gameplay was not changed, and that the behaviour of the players will stay the same (i.e. defenders will defend exactly like before, players will shoot or pass like before, keepers will save exactly like before).

In the unlikely event that you find any, please report them, as usual, via the Bugs/Ideas forum.

Will be interesting to see! I have a feeling it will look funny initially.
I remember watching my first few games watching my hacks run around the field, was hilarious.

Haha, fantastic animations! I'm not sure which is my favourite, but the short pass and putting a leg out to trap the ball are up there. The headers and throw-ins are great too.

The amount of fumbles we committed though was rather frustrating but yeah the animations were pretty nice to watch.

it works on firefox though... strange...

1st time in FF I got the same but I've had that before with previous M.E changes so I knew I just had to restart the game and from there it worked fine. Have you tried watching it on safari since?

na still the same... emptied the cache and everything...

I find it strange it works on FF and not Safari, I thought the match viewer was using the same software like macromedia flash or something...

it's using the same as before which is strange, at least I thought it was using it before.

Would've been nice to have the front rows of the crowd built in across the top (at least) with advertising hoardings as well. Maybe this will happen down the line?!

I like them, great new feature... expect for the goalkeepipng animations which are mistimed most of the time.
