This is meant to be constructive so I do not want anyone to take any of the following personally as I too want the Australian NT to benefit from this in the long term...
I simply do think we're taking the problem by the wrong end.
Ok it's interesting that the NT coach sees what's trained and where his NT players can be in a season or two skill's wise but honestly if I had a promising juniors I'll be looking at making $ in the first place...
When you sell a player, he's available to everybody in the sokker community not only Australia so who cares how much we have in the bank and what we are training when some random polish blokes is going to blow the plan into pieces anyway... Remember we are talking of future NT prospects here, these kind of players dont usually go through the net unnoticed imo.
Instead of totally dismissing the idea (which I did when Cometer asked me to organise what Achmid just did...), I suggest we complement the idea by having some Market Watchers... People that would search the market everyday for Oz players and flag them up in a "sister" topic where people who have put their name down here can easily look. That way imo we cover both ends of the subject, the offer and the demand...
The problem we have within the Oz Sokker community is that we have a very few active users (others probably have a life...), so if we can help the ones that have the money but not the time we might be a bit more efficient...
just a thought...

All input like this is welcomed, and it is something both cometer and myself have encouraged.
We don't have any official market watchers but between cometer, myself and naph, we seem too see most talents that go up in the market.
As for the budget of teams, the reason I asked fo rthis is because sure someone may have $10mill and a junior may be worth that but as you said, a polish dude could just come along and screw that up totally.
but if we line up a player who is worth $5mill, with someone who has 10mill, then we should be able to bid above this price (so those who have put their name in this thread to buy, must be willing to buy way above market value, and to keep things fair to who is selling, they should get atleast 90% of market value...especially if they are listing at an Australia friendly time)

You don't have to bid way above market price, you just need an Australian friendly time.
I will give fair market value, and likely 5-10% on top of that for Australian talent listed at a friendly time. Paying way above market rate is likely to get reported and/or reversed.

Australian friendly times don't really work as well anymore, there always seems to be *some* rich people around...
In fact, I think the bidding might even be more intense, since there are so few players to choose from at certain hours. 0200-1100 approximately.

Yeah I sorta meant, we would have to funds to go a fair bit above. As far as going in a bit more for Aussies its good, and hey, if you push them 5-10-20% more then market value and still don't get them, atleast the Aussie seller will get a bit more cash...even if you would prefer to get the player

Achmid [del]
You're right Achmid and that is also one thing we need to accept. We might lose a potential good Aussie player to a foreign team but we have to look at what the seller can do with the money and the benefit long term.
I'm not necessary talking about an established A-Leaguer but someone like sx and his Devil's Angels is a good example. He bagged $5mil for his player recently, that money is going to improve his starting XI but I'm sure he's gonna spend it on his stadium or his training staff. That in itself might not benefit the NT straight away but if his club grows stronger he's more likely to be able to retain NT players in the future or be able to "manufacture" more NT potential as well...
We have a little bunch of active users and even if we do not agree with each others all the time we help each others, I feel the NT is going to benefit from this long term as long as we stick around to play this game...
As for market watcher, I'm happy to give a hand but I need a bit of time to get use to the standard of NT players and remember about talent (I still look at it from a D3 point of view)... I think looking at the NT requirements will help...

Is this guy anywhere near NT requirements?
21yo (talent = <4)
good stamina
excellent pace formidable defender
good technique solid playmaker
good passing hopeless striker
I'm training def/pace at the mo' but thinking of a switch next season as want to boost tech/passing in my team....would consider switching to suit the NT if it helps. Also have a 16yo with Very Good defence (talent = 4).

On a separate note - I'm looking for striker trainers who could pick up a Malaysian striker. Turning 22 at the end of the season so 2 seasons left but has Definite NT prospective. Looking for someone who may be training Striker for another season. (Talent between 4 and 5)
Outstanding Pace, Outstanding Tech, Very Good Striker
I know the player is not Australian - but It might be beneficial for someone training Strikers for the next couple of seasons and will also be beneficial for Malaysia too also means that you would have a NT player

ah i'm gonna finish striker training soon, and i'll probably be looking for a new striker if my funds allow since papaluca is getting old and i'm taking the old horse to the barn sometime soon, most likely before the middle of next season
well it's not impossible if his talent is up there as you've stated, going to take a bit of a long term commitment though and even then he may or may not end up in the top team.
I haven't actually checked for the current crop of U21 defenders, he might be in with an outside chance, but after this next U21 game, is a long way short of the 1sts but it's potentially possible. Would take at least 1 season of defender training from here, along with a season of pace, then probably a season with a combination of tech/pm/extra def/stamina
I think at this stage, to crack the 1st XI you're really looking at needing magical defender as a bare minimum before you're even considered as a defender spot.
Really up to you, I'd probably say given that talent, the age and the current distribution he'd have around 50-60% chance if trained properly.

I intend to hang on to him for a while yet, so he'll get plenty of def/pace training at this point....altho' I may look at next season being a tech/pass season.

So would this guy stand a better chance in the long run...I guess passing is his downfall?
18yo (talent = 3-4 weeks)
weak stamina
good pace excellent defender
unsatisfactory technique average playmaker
poor passing adequate striker
It's just that I'm toying with changing my training & don't want to leave these sorts in my squad to waste away if an Aussie manager can take them & build into something decent....that goes for my 16yo Very Good defender (4 week talent) & my 20yo VG def, Exc Passer (4 week talent).
** If any Aussie managers are keen on taking these guys on...I'd be willing to seriously sell on, as I've got 1 or 2 young strikers I'd like to train.
On another note - this player is currently going for 25 mill on the transfer market...bid is with someone in the 3rd tier in Italy.

Just makes you realise how far behind we are in terms of what these big countries can afford to spend....couldn't see anybody in the 3rd tier in Oz spending that much over a season!
Ohh, to be able to afford half that amount...still crazy money tho'.

i could afford that if i wanted to but I don't wanna blow my dough that quickly ;).
As for that player, it's hard to say because his passing is quite down, but also his tech is extremely low. Basically, any player under the age of say 19 with talent under 4 are always in the hunt, even for U21 spots. Usually I only start to rule out prospects after 21 or if it's obviously clear they've got no hope. I would think the 18yo might be around the same chance as the 21yo, but it's pretty early days at 17-18-19.
