sadly, i have decided to retire a starting player of mine, who has served the club faithfully.

joe started out as a defender, but was switched to striker after injuries prevented the starting striker from playing. joe excelled in his striking role, and after a while was switched permanently from defender to striker, even scoring a record breaking 42 goals in one season. joining the club late in his career, it was no secret that he would one day reach the stage where younger players push him for a starting spot, while his skills continue to deteriorate. it has now reached that point, and joe has decided to retire at the top instead of languishing in the reserves.

as the top scorer for the club and having helped the club in its bid to promotion, he will be sorely missed. farewell, ol' joe :(
