Asunto: S14 - The Division II Race

27 shots to 10 to DVS... should I get worried?!

Only if you are worried about facing our #2 fast closing in on #1 goalkeeper next season, that is Carl Pottier. Hmm you'll probably also face Carl Storey and Greg Cunico next season too, all top draw NT players ;).

Status quo in A-League and only 2 teams promoting to D2. There's a lesson for those left in D3... auto-promote! :D

There's actually another lesson as well which is more long term :D. Improve your skills on the tactic editor. A number of games got decided early because their tactics just aren't up to standard or are too easy to pull apart by other managers.

So whilst there is a difference in skills there's a bigger gap imposed by being predictable/unfamiliar with the tactical decisions and it doesn't help. In a qualifier situation you really need to have everything on song.

That's why auto-promotion is so crucial... for a team that has never experienced II it is very hard to come up with the goods tactic and players wise in a qualification game.
I lost twice in qualification games and twice I was nowhere near ready for it. There's just not enough games of that calibre in III to get ready.

I should be a lot more prepared next season :)

Yeah you're quite right. Auto promotion helps significantly as it puts you into a league where you get that quality opposition to learn from :).

bah, i think the ME hates ellem this weekend... should've at least got a hat trick, but the keeper mysteriously gains super powers when ellem shoots on target, even for the penalty! >:(

@sudjyi

quite a long way to go mate, both players and tactics wise. have a look at the tactics used by D2 and A-league teams, and you'll learn much, i guarentee that. might i add that throw ins are usually one of the ways i do damage, gotta love the tactic editor :)

@cometer

unfortunately there tends to be quite a few AP-ers that go straight back down after a season in D2... usually those from the easy D3 leagues

Not happy with 9-2?!!

Gotta say, I thought I was playing the Newcastle 'Thugs' (rather than Newcastle Titans)...hacking my boys down inside the first 25 minutes as if it was a massacre rather than a match!!
3 injuries to key players...at least they have the off season to recover.

You're right that there aren't a great number of div III games of the tight tactical standard, but I don't know that many users take advantage of the cup and friendlies (particularly the state cup) to learn tactically. For many div III managers without Plus those are the best games to learn about others tactics.

Worst thing about losing is that my supporters go from being in love to depressed :(
2009-01-05 02:14:47
that happens in qualifiers, you either skyrocket or plummet. You'll pick it back up in about a month at the latest if you keep winning, just that your 1.5x sponsor money will take a hit due to poor fan mood.
2009-01-05 03:37:08
tell me about it....my fans have go down to losing hope..i would have been better off coming second if i knew this was going to happen......

with the sponsors..i think mine hate me & my team or something...i think i am getting about the same (if not less) money from them then at the start of this season....and i only lost 1 game for the year....and that is putting me off a bit...because if winning matchs doesn't make them happy then i might as well give up....and last time i checked...losing games doesn't get you extra money either!

does anyone know how to get sponsors to pay you more money if winning games isn't good enough??

Coming 2nd wouldn't solve the problem. You wouldn't get a chance to improve your skills, you'd get further behind those in II since they get more money and you'd never get a chance to promote. So yes, it's the price you pay for losing a qualifier but that's to discourage people from throwing quali games.

2 possibilities, your fan mood influences the amount of sponsorship money you get but so does the other teams in your league. Say you get 3 new signups in your league over the course of the season you're likely to lose 30-40k per week in sponsorship money (assuming the teams they replaced have been around for a while) as they don't carry the same prestige or strength of the other team.

Your supporter mood will rise again quickly if you win a few games in a row.

Get into a higher league, hang around and with time you'll get a slow increase, win games. That's basically the only way to get more sponsorship money.

Our understanding of sponsorship money is that it is based on several factors:
- Your team performance in the league AND friendlies. I should also mentioned cup games since they seem to have a great influence. These affects the mood of your supporter, a factor taken into account for sponsorship.
- The other teams in your league also have an effect and a big one too. Your league gets a "prestige" rating. The higher the rating the higher the sponsorship money.
- Coming to the end of the year bonus, the number of fan also gets involved as you'll get 200 x your fan base.

For having lost my last 2 qualifiers, I can tell you it takes 3 to 4 games to get the mood back to where it was. Cup games will help boost it greatly if you win at least the first two games.
As for coming second, I'm not convinced it's better:
- you dont win the league so no joy, trophy and a bit of satisfaction from the game
- you dont get to play 2 games on week 15 which means a loss in training
- you wouldnt get to play a cut-off game where you can learn something from a stronger opposition
In conclusion, it is bad now but it also brings it's plus as you should have worked out some of the weakness of your tactic and your players from your game against DAU ( I saw a lot of gaps at the back that got exploited too often). Also it underlines the importance of auto-promotion. You've got the goods to win 14 leagues games next season, you should really focus on that to avoid a qualifier again...

Don't give up just yet... your team is in the process of crossing the border between III and II, it takes a bit of time but if you persever you'll get there!

well i guess it gives you an indication of what you can train or modify in your tactic then :)
