Asunto: National Team U21

2020-09-08 15:01:09
Thanks mate.

I've managed to get some of the young players lost in bot teams released on to the transfer market. Unfortunately there isn't a lot of quality there but would be a few good spot fillers especially for the new teams who don't need much to survive in div 2.

Or if anyone wants to bid and then release that would also be good. I may do this myself as I feel bad about getting them released and then not selling.

For anyone interested in the National Teams, you should also add "The Sokkeroos" in the forum box, and also try to join The Sokkeroos association.

I didn't think I could all this time because I'm not a member (and it kept saying I can't because I'm not a member), but then I saw I could accept myself and I had access to the forum.

If you are able to apply, then I should be able to accept. It may take some trial and error.

Now if you need to be a member to apply, then I will put out a reminder on Christmas Day when we all get membership for one day.

So an expected heavy loss today, but now all those juniors are saved from being fired/lost if they go bit and replaced, provided I keep them in the U21 squad.

Oof that was a rough result.
13 shots to 4 and we lose 1-2

Very strange at first glance. Our keeper is five times the value/wage at comparable form (slightly better), whilst being taller @ comparable BMI (just thinking agility etc.).
Their strikers not world beaters either.

Will be looking at selling this guy. Has played in the NT as both a Striker and as a Defender.

Unlikely to make it to the NT long term as a Defender. As a striker depends on whether strikers before him are being trained or not.

Happy to sell to either a DEF or STR trainer, or just list and hope for the best. Thought I'd offer up here first if someone wanted him listed at a friendly time.

Rex Morgan, age: 21, sum[48]

club: Achmids Soul, country: Australia,
value: 354 400 AU$, wage: 3 880 AU$,
excellent form, very good tactical discipline,
height: 163 cm, weight: 67.6 kg, BMI: 25.44

unsatisfactory stamina hopeless keeper
formidable pace solid defender
very good technique very good playmaker

hopeless passing good striker

Has been popping approximately every 4 weeks in Pace (his training hasn't been straight forward, often getting half a game + full NT match).

Never popped in Striker or Defender in my team.

You know my times, so if you list for Euro zones I'm good anyway.
He's below my best 20yo defender & a fair way off my 22yo's....I'd only be taking him if somebody else didn't, & likely sell on once I have a better NT player come through. :)

Well that was a rough result.

Watched the game to see what went wrong (as I was trying something a bit different with the tactic), but it was just a case of their strikers having a field day, despite our goalie being Divine skill in Divine form.

They just hit every one of their 1 on 1s in the first 60minutes, might as well have had no goalie to be honest.

Their strikers are also powerhouses in Tech, and seemed to tackle our defenders at will (our defenders kept passing the ball to one another which also lead to some of the 1v1s). And to top it all off, one of our Defenders got a straight red to open it up even more.

On another day, the exact same tactic and players could have gone the opposite way, but it was how it was. The ME decided Kypros were to win despite completely nullifying their winger, and they were going to shoot better than even SD players in SD can actually shoot. To add insult to injury, one of their strikers that was sold just a few months ago only had these skills:

Unknown stamina Poor keeper
Formidable pace Hopeless defender
Solid technique Unsatisfactory playmaker
average passing average striker

Showing his striker is still going to be pretty rubbish even if trained since then, tech is nothing our defenders shouldn't be able to handle, and his defender should not be able to tackle our techy defenders.

As you can't join The Socceroos association yet (which is mainly me talking rubbish, as usual), thought I'd paste the extended post I wrote.

So next Friday we compete in the U20 Mini World Cup

I'm sure everyone knows what this is but just in case, it's an unofficial world cup for the "Best of the Rest" ie those who did not make it out of the World Cup Qualification phase.

Because of this, I have always been against it being U20, as I feel if you have trained players for the NT, you deserve to have them play as 21yos if they are in this "off season". Also, these players all end up playing in the next world cup Qualification anyway, but because so many teams participate, it makes it very hard to organise friendlies outside of it.

Our last edition, we got knocked out in the first round to Lietuva, who had a rating advantage of 8pts over us, leading to a 2-0 loss, but hopefully this season we get a better draw and can make it through to the quarters or better.

We used to do very well in the Mini World Cup, and hopefully moving forward with a number of managers returning and training, we will get there again, but now I think getting to the quarters (round 3) would be a great result, round 2 par, and round 1 a bit disappointing.

Below as some of the shortlisted players likely to play. There could still be changes based on form and skill pops, but some of you may see some familiar names.

As far as the team goes.

GK - Borg & Hudson/Patterson/Simpson
DEF - Martinovic, Collins, Brooks, Upton, Stephenson, Stewart
MID - Van Gisbergen, Worthy, Brosque, Hassell
ATT - Tracevski, Mairou, Borg, Marrapodi

As always, if anyone has any comments, suggestions, or questions, happy to hear here or in sk-mail.

If anyone wants to know where their players sit, happy to do this as well, or happy to help with training plans moving forward.

Would love to see some of the newer guys having a chat in here, so we can help you have as much fun in the game as possible too.

Gutted to see my man Ashton not in there!

Haha, but good luck to the Socceroos! (or Kangaroos as in cricket?)
2020-09-25 15:20:35
Haha don't worry, he is right in the mix, especially if his form stays up.

So our first match is against Malta, which is going to be a bit tougher than I first expected.

Their U20's rate only slightly less than our U21s so our U20s will have their work cut out for them.

Scouting some of their players too shows some quite high skills, like one of their strikers with 3xIncredible as a 20yo, which is just ridiculous really.
It also appears their GK is around the Magical/Unearthly/Divine level as a 20yo.

What a win, absolutely destroyed them tactically.

Outrated by 4pts, but outshot them 20-4.

The big aim in that match was to completely nullify their ridiculously awesome striker O. Lorenzi who the few times he did get the ball, just ran circles around us.

Their keeper was amazing holding off 20 shots to just 2 goals, but we also hit the woodwork twice, missed one open goal, and just missed another 1 touch in to the goal.

On to the 2nd round we go :D

Nice !! Great result. :)
I see Arrarte's rating was decent. I need to boost his stamina.
Not sure about those Maltese surnames....very un-Australian!!

Our Round 2 match (final 16) is against Norge.

In the first round, Norge beat Nicaragua 2:0 with a rating of 44.6 :O To put this in perspective, our U21 teams best rating this season is 44.3, and this comp is for U20's.

On a very quick scout, here are some of Norges star 20yos

GK:
This is their reserve GK
Jonathan Bakkehaug, age: 20, sum[37]
$
club: Cicignon IF, country: Norge,
value: 2 526 000 AU$, wage: 27 280 AU$,
excellent form, solid tactical discipline,
height: 183 cm, weight: 82.6 kg, BMI: 24.66

unsatisfactory stamina unearthly keeper
good pace
hopeless defender
unsatisfactory technique hopeless playmaker
good passing hopeless striker

DEF:
This was their sub that came on (and judging from wage without doing an in depth analysis, most of their defenders are similar, with approx 2x bril, except for Storsveen who is Divine/SD def)

Øyvind Eid, age: 20, sum[58]
$
club: ARSENAL CITY, country: Norge,
value: 767 600 AU$, wage: 9 360 AU$,
solid form, formidable tactical discipline,
height: 177 cm, weight: 70.8 kg, BMI: 22.6

good stamina hopeless keeper
incredible pace magical defender
weak technique adequate playmaker
average passing good striker

ATT:
Judging by wages, I would say an approximate average of 3xformidable, maybe a little higher.

This will certainly be a tough game. I said from the start, if we got to round 2, that is probably PAR, anything more would be a bonus.
