We have a couple of friendlies still left for the season and was wondering if there were any novelty type matches people would like to see played.

Obviously it would depend on the opposition, but I am open to suggestions if there is anything anyone wants to see.

Congrats on the score. The great work is continued!
Maybe you should try playing U20 team in a couple of weeks to see what you'll be dealing with next season. We're slowly stepping in the second half of the season, so I guess it might be the right time to start planning and advising the U20 members owners about the training that would benefit the NT the most.

Rough result given how close that game was (stats wise), but will watch it at some stage and see exactly what happened

Just watched the game. I think the gaps between each formations were way too big. Sometimes it looked like 4-1-5 with poor lonely Upton chasing and under pressure of New Zealand's 3 mids. You gave them too much space in the centre. Luckily, they couldn't have used it properly.
Looked like an experimental set up so good for you that you're trying different options :)

Have now watched the match, and whilst I can see why you say it, I'm not sure I agree.
When their goalie had a GK, the players almost set themselves up as you say, but during actual gameplay, rarely was Upton in a position he coulndn't handle, which was kind of my plan.

NZ play very central so aim was to defend centrally and attack wide, which is pretty much what happened, and for the most part it went well.

The two goals NZ got, were actually just poor ME/unlucky fumble kind of stuff.

The first goal was due to a very wise fumble by our defender, and their 2nd goal was because the ME made our Defender run up the field like a winger despite the winger being free. This meant when the ball went back towards our end, the right centre had to go for the right wing ball, and then there was noone to defend the central right striker.

On the other side, we had some fantastic efforts at goal that just didn't get pocketed, From hitting the posts to headers that went straight to the goalie, it was a little disappointing.

Overall that game should probably have been 2-2 based on what was on the field (although NZ deserved for their goals to be from better attacking plays they had rather than what they did score off), but NZ were very lucky to get anything more than a draw, let alone a 2-0 win.

But this probably does make up for a lucky win Australia got against the flow a couple of seasons ago, so I'll let it slide :)

To give you some examples:

All of the players are covered. Two Aus central mids near to each other, one lost the ball and the second one couldn't keep up as they were too close.

A wall of 5 atts, easy to counter if their def wins a header and passes the ball forward.

4 of our players near to just one New Zealand's. Only 2 defs. Even if the striker is tackled, he has no one to play to and forced to send the ball forward or make a dangerous pass to the mids near the penalty box.

And the last one - throw-ins left lots of blank space in the centre. If the wing was centered a little more or you moved one of the guys from the right up corner (1 def and 2 mids covering each other) to make a connection between defs/def-mid and the wing, there would have been a better chance for a counter since all of the players are almost glued to the side line.

It's easy to say, when you don't know the opponent's tactics, I'm totally aware of it. I just spotted some situations where you could mix it up a little bit and not to put so many players in one place.
You're doing a real great job here, so I hope you won't consider this as a kind of an attack on you. It's just my opinion and since I have not been doing so well with the senior NT lately, you don't really have to take it seriously :P

Don't worry I don't consider it an attack, but still shots really don't explain a lot without watching what actually happened and how frequently it happens.

After watching the game, I was quite happy with how the tactics played out, and as I said, their only two goals were pretty ME related (they did have other better opportunities which they didn't score off but so did we with a very equal amount of good scoring opportunities).

Also as for your throw-in screenshot, you can see players moving in to position so you need to take a screen after they have finished moving to see where they actually are.

After watching the match what I saw a lot of was our attacking MIDs getting in a lot of space, and their midfielders often being quite close and Upton covering quite a lot of them by himself. With our defenders pushed up, they all acted more like defensive MIDs which allowed up to free up the actual midfield a lot.

The player in the bottom of the screen was a little wider and further forward than I wanted, but this was also a result of the NZ defensive push which can make them appear more like a winger than they should.

A repeat match, with the exact same tactics is more likely to end in a draw.

Well that was a frustrating loss. Had just as many good chances as they did and more bad chances but again, the ME decided not to let us score, but let them score (our striker value : 759 200 AU$ &wage: 6 120 AU$ vs their striker that scored value : 342 000 AU$ & wage: 2 720 AU$ - half as good as ours.

Oh and our keeper value : 2 584 400 AU$ & wage: 14 960 AU$ - their keeper value : 1 581 200 AU$ & wage: 13 000 AU$ again, worse than ours).

Our winger was also often free with a direct line to him, and yet the players chose to pass across the field when a China player was in the way, and what happened, the Chinese player would intercept it.

Not much you can do when players make decisions that go against how the ME is meant to work and it doesn't let us convert in the twice as many chances that we had, and again managed to do that despite having a worse overall mark

And that's how you knock off the #1 team in the group

I bow to you, sir and your tactic genius. What a game that was! Could've easily been at least 4-5 goals on your side but their gk seemed to have the best day of his life defending all these 1vs1s. Unlucky loosing that goal after a stupid def mistake.
You totally dominated the game. And the players' movement - such a pleasure to watch.

Now that Sokker Assistente allows me to weight certain skills, I can help give you all an idea of where your player stands without giving away their skills.
This will still be a rough estimation over how your player is going, remember there are a number of factors that dictate whether you player will play in the U21s either now or in the future, these inclucde:
- Form
- Stamina
- Talent
- How well you train them and your coaches
- How other managers train their youths and coaches
- Me messing up and selecting the wrong people/running out of time to select teams based on the above.

I will also likely be playing with the numbers a bit so if they change in future updates that may be why

So without further ado, here are the players for each position (this takes a bit of time so initially it's just the GK but the rest are to come)

Any insight into how you’re weighting skills per position? We all love a good debate here :)
