Asunto: National Team U21
He is from my experience, one of our (Australian user) best tacticians (would even be in the discussion of "the best" we've ever had). Has over a decade experience in this game and combining the two, there aren't too many other local users I'd put into the same league. I don't think I'm very surprised at all to be getting the results we are.
The other factor is the role will become potentially easier as the seasons go on as a few of us have come back to the game giving us additional numbers in terms of the player pool.
Still, you can only beat what you're up against and 2 from 2 in this comp so far is a good start.

Appreciate the kind words.
In other news, we managed to beat the higher ranked, higher rated, Israel 2:1. Very close game although we held a 2:0 lead until the 89th minute.
With this win, it puts us to the top of the group stage of the Asian cup, so in theory, should have an easier game next week, although I doubt it will be easy.

Nice. Yeah, one has to think that probability wise, we should end up in a better spot for the next round but we will see. 3 from 3 you can't argue about.
And in true Australian luck in these tournaments, Israel, who we beat and relegated to 2nd in the group, play an easier team than us in the Quarter finals.
Australia play Malaysia in the Quarters. Won't give a full run down at present but at the start of the tournament they were ranked 74th to our 57.
On the other hand, Israel, are playing Nippon, who at the start of the tournament were ranked 85th.
Should we may it through this round, we will be playing one of NZ (51st) or Philipinas (67th)
If Israel win they will play one of Zhōngguó (68th) or Indonesia (46th)
So maybe our route is slightly better in the semis. slightly

Dont worry. Your tactic is very good. Very nice movements. I am confident u will get a good result. Is imotesive how Australia u21 is climbing
Thanks mate, it has certainly been a good season, so far moving up 8 places. Not sure even with a couple of nice wins we can make it to the 4th pot this season, but it's nice to be this close
Well. Dont know If already u have the schedule till end of season but try to play against Bolivia, Indonesia and NZ.
:)
:)
Haha well we will have to see how we go with this tournament, but 3 of those 4 are caught up in the tournament
Yes. It is possible.
Good luck
If u get pot 3 chances to qualify for u21 wc increase a lot!!

I would suggest you don't go by the rankings. Japan thrashed us 4-0 (we were 20 places above them) and even though Malaysia's and Japan's average marks are similar, there's one Japanese striker having an average mark of 60 who makes it a point to score atleast 1 or 2 goals for his team every game. Yes, Malaysia too is dangerous but if I were Australia, I would've chosen Malayisa over Japan in the quarters. But regardless, since your avg mark is similar, it won't be easy for your team. It will be an interesting game.

Oh there are definitely other metrics which could be used, and a full assessment may find Japan is in fact better than Malaysia. But just going off the stats provided not long before the tournament started.
Lol Indonesia forfeited, should definitely have lost last week :D
Now before our game gets underway, I thought I'd just throw in another small amount of stats. Below I have the average mark for the group stages, in order of when we can play the various teams, just to see how very close all the teams left are.
Australia - Ave: 47
Quarter Finals - Malaysia Ave: 48.3
Semi Finals - NZ Ave: 46.0
------------ Philipinas Ave: 46.6
Final - Indonesia Ave: 50.8
-------- Israel Ave: 52.4
-------- Nippon Ave 46.7
-------- Zhongguo Ave: 43.4
Definitely an interesting run down. Based on average mark alone, we beat the best in the group stages, and that this quarter finals match we will actually be going in as underdogs.
Now as I was a bit late with these stats, some results are already finalised.
Indonesia (the 2nd top marked team) - Forfeited their quarter final match in favour of the weakest team (Zhongguo).
NZ organised a non-cup match and drew, which means the away team gets the win in the form of Philipinas - who went on to get a rating of 50.6, which would make them stronger than our average.
The Israel-Nippon game is still to take place, and has correctly been organised under the Cup format.
Our match with Malaysia is set to start soon, also as a Cup match.
Based on everything above there are arguments for almost all the teams being able to take out the Asian Cup.
Israel is the clear favourite left in the comp, dominating all other teams in ratings
Australia beat Israel in the group stages and therefore puts their name up for the potential win.
Malaysia's manager is known as quite a good manager, and with the marks they are getting, despite their overall ranking, I would not be ruling them out.
Philipinas being able to pull 50+ ratings and knock out an early season favourite throws their names in the ring
Nippon has a beast striker currently tearing teams apart
Zhonggou - well you don't make it to the semis with a low mark unless you have your tactic on point.
But overall as stated above, I'd still say our Group nemesis Israel, is the firm favourite to take out the title, so we will be hoping one of the two underdogs in Nippon or Zhonggou can somehow find a win in their matches, although I won't hold my breath

A nice 3-0 win in the quarters against Malaysia.
Martinoo attempted a change of tactics but with a change myself, rendered one of their defenders out of the game. Contrary to this however, they also had a winger completely unguarded making it quite the interesting game.
The match was brutal with both teams suffering injuries, but Australia went on to cominate the states with 12-3 in shots, and only 38% of play in the Australian defensive half.
Next week we play Philipinas who rated 50.6 against NZ (we rated 50.1 against Malaysia).
In the other half of the draw we are waiting for the result between Israel and Nippon to see who will play Zhonggou in the semis
And just for interest, this is the player (I think) that KautukP was talking about in Nippons team, an absolute beast

Congrats to Australia for winning the quarter final game. The performance so far has been top notch. Will this be Australia's maiden U21 Asian Cup title?
