Damn thought I sent my invites for tonights NT match to be played away, not home. Oh well, silly forfeit. At least it didn't affect our group pot for the next WCQ

And with that, we say goodbye to another great season for U21 players, with some amazingly trained players.
Winning the U21 Asian Cup was certainly the highlight.

GK: Ponting - our #3 best ever GK - and with 3 years gap between him and Borg, I can see he will likely play a lot more matches for Australia.
Defenders: were not up to the quality that we have had in previous seasons Def/Pace wise, but players like Sutton, Kearton and Groom all have secondaries so if trained well, could provide some interesting competition to the Def/Pace specialists
MIds: Sutton will be sorely missed, #1 ever mid in the U21 setup. Put him alongside Bishop from last season, Van gisbergen who is 4yrs older, and Fox/Pondeljak also from last season, and out MID stocks are extremely healthy moving forward. I wouldn't discount Gardiner moving up the pack as he rounds out his skills.
ATT: It was always going to be hard to compete with the amazing success we have had in strikers the past few seasons, but Franklin certainly gave it a good effort. #9 all time striker, without much between him and those above. Given what is coming through, his days as an NT striker may be limited but he will probably be a fringe player in the future

A little surprised that was have taken such a hit in value especially given the higher average age. I think when I looked at this last season, it was also down on the season prior.
However, this is still the 3rd (probably 4th) highest value team we have had since I took over managing so it is by no means a bad team.
There are some very exciting talents coming through, which I will leave you to see, with 8 players already having played 5+ games for the NT.
This week I will be playing a debutante game against the NZ side. Completely up to them who they want to play. I like to play these games once early in the season to try and save players from being fired/removed when their owner goes bot. It also protects our 1st XI for the first match of the WCQ group as well
Unfortunately we lost one of our good defender prospects to just this last season.

That game against Iran was a fun one to watch, strikers had an absolute field day.
Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to have many shots against their reserve keeper after the first one got injured in the 79th minute, otherwise it could have been even better.

Ended up going for leijer since I didn’t see any activity from fantum. Paid way more than I would have ever thought I’d have to and hugely relieved it didn’t go higher. One bidder was intent on blowing their full resources on him. Checked his profile and they have been around for like 4months. How do you get to be able to afford a 19yo at around 1m when you’re in such a low division and barely established.
When I saw this I decided I was going to pay whatever it took because I was concerned they’d not have got proper training and it was likely looking for a starting squad to strengthen their team type of thing. So I took one for the team here.
Fantum, if you still want him for training happy to discuss it further privately. I just figured I needed to be certain he’d get training and so spent money to keep him in Aus.
Lol already with 41 avg ratings in 4 months. Yep this game is definitely fair with income distribution. I’ve only just got to 50 avg ratings in 2 years. What a joke.

Oh I don’t have to offload him at all as I can make space. It was more that you seemed interested in picking him up so was happy to sit out and allow yourself to pick him up without the added fight of myself resulting in a higher price paid etc. We’re already severely disadvantaged financially so last thing I want to do is add to that from within.
I was planning on giving him some pm training anyway now that I’ve got him but I am ok to part with him if you were still really keen to have him in your squad. I’d just be wanting what I paid plus the cost for me to list (eg all the 5% taxes added) so that I come out no worse off.

He is #6 DEF for his age (1st has slightly worse secondaries, but 4 skills higher combined between pace+def. I expect Ace will probably play as first line defender as a 21 but may not be a superstar, hard to say, especially if Ace Leijer ends up being very close to a pace and def pop already)
#7 MID for his age (the top 2 are a long way ahead of him, top 5 may even be out of reach)

Got our 2nd win against the number 2 seed in our group last night in what is a massive boost to our chances of qualifying for the main World Cup.

We still have a couple of big matches against Latvija (who keep giving away walkovers, just not to us) and Honduras to come, both of which have the teams to be able to upset us.
