Asunto: National Team U21

that's a pretty solid win. I hate pressing but you managed to get it working reasonably effectively. Every time I press it ends up with 5 or 6 goals in the back of the net so I just gave up trying :p. Might have to reconsider.

Colosimo was the better of the three strikers.

Nicely done.

Pressing has its limit, just check my cup game wednesday, it's the perfect exemple why you'll be right 9 times out of 10. I knew it before but I also knew from club experience I could capitalize on the positive points this approach has. Luckily Mexico wasnt too strong too...

Although wednesday helped me with showing the obvious flaws of the tactic and help me minimising them for today; it's not a strategy I would use with my club players or a U21B against a 50+ mark team.

Saying this, I would give it go if I had very high pace/ very high def players though... sadly it's not going to happen very soon :[

It was down to form at the end of the day...
Because to be fair, there isnt much difference between Colo, Hayden and him skill wise.

He hit it so hard it got lodged in the crossbar... is that the one you mean?

Losing Bowyer in the 8th minute hurt us. Could have been many more goals I think, but 35 shots is plenty. Scoring goals is still a problem for us. Sterjovski out for 20 days is also a problem. He may just be back on deck for the Uruguay game.

The first leg has not gone exactly to plan, but there's an element of luck with the U21s. Lets hope the luck turns our way in the run home. We will probably end up playing Ukraine for 2nd spot in the final round.

Next week our U20 team takes on France in a friendly.

Safe to say Sharpley is 4th choice as striker these days... a pop in striker would change this.

too bad he's training tech right now! :P
2009-06-20 07:08:31
Tech will not necessarily hurt his chances of playing.
2009-06-20 15:08:59
one pop in striker would put him 2nd though...

lol behind drum?

drum is a monster gun btw

The situation is very tight between the top5 strikers.
It's all within 2-3 pops in the 3 main skills that's why form is often the deciding factor too.

Drum is a gun but lack in efficiency these days...
