Asunto: National Team U21

Well we did what we had to do and that was get the 3 points. Deserved to have scored more but what can you do, a win is still a win :).

One to go for qualification :)
Should we gain qualification, we'd have achieved qualification to the 1st Senior World Cup and also the 1st (official) U21 World Cup.

Hopefully Honduras do us a bit of a favour later by defeating Ukraine or else getting a draw with them, making Ukraine have to beat us to qualify, instead of us having to beat them.

Yep, it was another nerve-racking game. You're never sure in this game, especially with the U21 team... it can so easily go against you. In the end 15 shots were enough to get the win. Very happy with the result. :)

Next week is the big one.

bloody hell those 5 man pressing offside traps are bloody annoying! and i cant believe the number of times we got denied by the bloody woodwork! sharpley would've gotten a hattrick if it weren't for the woodwork!

offside traps are beatable if you position strikers right and have faster strikers and good quality midfielders. Otherwise, yes they can be very tough to breach.

Russia has an interesting junior in their midfield... Gavrilo Frankenschtein.

Yeah, very high in playmaking too probably :). Looks like a dangerous player though at least from initial looks. We'll hopefully have a few of those in a few seasons.

Phew, that was incredibly nerve-racking. Awesome effort to keep them out! Nesic didn't give away the penalty, Agostino was ruthless against their winger... Adkins and Morley were solid... Stathakis played beyond his skill ability in a critical position.

We needed Byers, Colosimo and Sharpley to go out and score... and they did!!

We're off to the World Cup, baby!!!
