Asunto: National Team U21

I'd already made up my mind before i'd posted that. My election speech will be up when I come back to brisbane. Going up to Achmid's farm for a couple of days... and no net access up around there.

that will be intersting... are you gonna sort it with him while you're up there or has he given up on the U21 role already?

In negotiations up at the ranch.

Going to be interesting to see if people actually have to think about their vote this season or whether it follows previous seasons in that the candidate basically picks themselves.

I could throw my name into the hat.... as long as I don't get elected ;)

Congrats to Cometer and Tigermaster as our national coaches!

I was expecting more candidates for the U21 job...
The elections are boring in this country :)

Plenty of time left for more candidates though so who knows what the final outcome is. As long as there are communication links between the 1st and U21 manager I'm pretty happy with anything that eventuates.

"One for Martin. Two for Martin. Want another recount?"

I've seen all I need to see. Congrats to our two NT coaches for next season. :D

I was expecting to see you going for that job somehow...
2009-01-06 13:48:08
Yes, and I seriously considered it. I came to the conclusion that we want someone with some international experience to get the team established. As the coach of a successful A-League team and Malaysian NT, Tigermaster looks to be the man for the job.

He has the tactical experience with the new ME (as a bonus). Also he's in a great position to capitalise on having other U21 NT led by inexperienced managers to give us a great shot at world cup qualification. But I'll stop writing his speech for him. :P

I will try to be more involved, to make myself a good candidate for the role down the track.

fair enough :)
although you don't know what the final vote count could deliver since it's not the NT but the U21...

I was expecting Ach to postulate but it sounds like he's given up the idea...
Also Naph as well since he's always followed the NT...

I'm flattered, but shouldn't make the time. I'm looking at starting some more training, keeping my full time job and planning a 6-8 week holiday between now and mid-year.

I also don't think I'm that great tactically to be honest, haven't spent the time experimenting, I've mostly tinkered around something that works okay.

You cant be that crap tactically having won the cup last season and making the top4 of the AL two seasons running... just my view :)

I'm surprised the U21 job doesnt attract more people really but you all have good excuses or priorities in your RL, which is totally understandable.
Tiger has a decent experience and is keen so it's good for the U21 team, it's not like we havent got a good manager to occupy the position!

I just wished we had a bit more debate to fill this quiet period really :)

Doesn't stop us probing those who have put their hand up for the job.
