2009-08-27 01:55:42
Same here.

This is the only guy worth mentioning. I'd be surprised if he made it.

Noel Cardozo, age 20
value: 327 200 AU$
wage: 3 360 AU$
unearthly form

poor stamina hopeless keeper
good pace poor defender
excellent technique excellent playmaker
very good passing hopeless striker

Oh I spose this guy has more defending

Allan Woodenberg, age 19
value: 407 600 AU$
wage: 3 920 AU$
divine form

poor stamina unsatisfactory keeper
excellent pace solid defender
adequate technique adequate playmaker
formidable passing adequate striker

Want to nominate one to warm the bench with my dud?
2009-08-27 12:56:11
Cardozo can play. He's perfectly fine.
2009-08-27 13:23:47
Oh right. Well throw him in then. He popped to excellent passing today actually.

Kick-off time! Thanks to everyone who submitted a player. We have a full list and a very competent one at that! Good to see the Aussies supporting Aussie juniors.

I've gone for something a little different to make it interesting tactic-wise. It's asking a lot from the players and giving them an opportunity to shine and hopefully play to their strengths (read "cover their weaknesses").

Here's the squad:
1 Ryan Willis GK (uberfurious)
2 Adrian Williams DEF (fantum)
3 Chris Foley DEF (Tigermaster)
4 Nahuel Terminello DEF (Achmid)
5 Josh Bowyer MID (krayzee)
6 Eugene Rocco DEF (Minkee)
7 Mark Erdogan MID (cometer)
8 Grant Straker MID (Schmick)
9 David Griffiths MID (sx736644)
10 Noel Cardozo MID (Cloete)
11 Brendan Abreu ATT (snappa)

12 Kris Copping GK (naphtali)
13 Damien Hirons DEF (Achmid)
14 Adrian Patterson DEF (fantum)
15 Owen Byers MID (vivski)
16 Hayden Drum ATT (snappa)

Good luck chaps!

Willis easily man of the match! Got the top rating and didn't put a foot wrong all match ;)
2009-08-28 12:41:21
He was solid as a rock in goal... champion!

He even had the decency to sign the ball and boot it into the stands for his fans to souvenir!

Hooray! Thanks for the chance vivski. I think I really notice the attendance difference at my friendlies from having an "U21" player from the last comp match. It makes a difference for a lowly team like mine and encourages me to keep my YS.

Turkey, Uruguay and Finland...

a walk in the park eh?!
nice challenge :)
2009-08-28 16:57:18
Well we've played Uruguay twice before and lost, but neither game I felt we didn't have chances to win. The other two well, not particularly nice but you just never know. It's better than what we could have got ;).
2009-08-28 17:04:02
Well just to demonstrate my point we could have been in this group:

C
1. Polska U21 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
2. Italia U21 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
3. England U21 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
4. Slovensko U21 0 0 0 0 0-0 0

Ouccch. Enough said, we avoided the impossible draw and are now left with an unlikely chance of progressing. Still the main thing is we got here :D.

Good win against Japan today. Our B team was a match for their A team.
How did Haerati look? He rated well but I haven't been able to watch the game yet.

Looked alright from what I saw. Though he did come on at a time when their defense was tired so that may have assisted his performance. Actually thought Augerinos and Baird looked most impressive out there.

Nice result ahead of the U21 World Cup next week :).
