Asunto: National Team U21

2009-09-04 14:26:46
Looked alright from what I saw. Though he did come on at a time when their defense was tired so that may have assisted his performance. Actually thought Augerinos and Baird looked most impressive out there.

Nice result ahead of the U21 World Cup next week :).

i would think durante is more of a striker, with the way i will be training him :P

Maybe it will be more obvious later, he's not a match for the ones we used today but it certainly a good thing he is trained as one as we have loads of choice defender wise and not so much on the attacking front...

anyway good result and approach for next week...

This thread might not be the right place to ask, but can someone please explain to me how you's know if a player is good enough for the Australian U21, and open teams ?

I had a junior who was good enough to be in the U21 team, and I didn't have a clue untill I received mail from commeter asking me to submitt the players details.

That's is done now, but I don't get what is meant by 3.0 tecnique, or 2.0 passing + defence for examples.

I thought I knew, but I realise now that the way i understood it before is obviously wrong.

I might have some players good enough for the Australian teams, but I'm not sending their details, because now I'm not sure if they are good enough, and I don't want to send players who don't meet the criteria.

For requirements you can check here.

Now the numbers represent the skill level, so divine is 17, tragic is 0 etc as is shown in the rules :).

Skills order

0. tragic
1. hopeless
2. unsatisfactory
3. poor
4. weak
5. average
6. adequate
7. good
8. solid
9. very good
10. excellent
11. formidable
12. outstanding
13. incredible
14. brilliant
15. magical
16. unearthly
17. divine
(18)17+. superdivine (player skill has reached maximum)

Hope that clarifies things for you. Note though that passing the requirements doesn't mean they're good enough to actually play though but are good enough to be watched. I hope that's what you're after?

So just to clear things up in my head.....

DEF - Australia
Primary: Defender (14) / Pace (12)
Secondary: Technique + Playmaking + Passing (18)

My player must be minimum "brilliant" in defence, have "outstanding" pace (primary).
And an example for secondary would be minimum "good" (7) technique, + "adequate" (6) playmaking, and "average" (5) passing as an example ?

And thanks for the lesson.

Yes. Primary has to be satisfied exactly, Secondary has to be satisfied in the summation.

In this case to make the senior defender list you need brilliant defending minimum, outstanding pace minimum, and at least 18 skill points across technique, playmaking and passing, arranged in any particular order. :)

So yeah what you said was right.

At the same time, there are various factors which allow players outside this range to be selected, so secondaries can be slightly lower than usual.

As for U21's they've got age factors as well which reduce both primary and secondary requirements to accomodate for younger ages.

Thanks mate.

That's how I thought it worked, so it looks like I don't have to learn a new system.

Maybe my player popped enough times, and I didn't keep a close enough eye on him.

I will check the rest of my squad to see if anyone else qualifies.
2009-09-06 07:38:13
chances are if they're under 21, they'll make the list automatically due to age factors being high. That was done deliberately when we moved to it when TM was the U21 manager. We thought it was better to have more U21's enter the system so we could track more players development through to the senior level. Also U21's can be so varied skill wise so we needed to track that too.

Good to know you understand how it works :).

Got it ;)

In general, if a youngster is any good, submit him to the NTDB. To see roughly how they stack up, use the dream team feature of NTDB.
For a definitive answer, ask the coach. ;)

Thanks vivski

Ouch, close game, Turkiye a little fortunate to have won it. That 2nd goal was a belter.

2 goalkeeping errors from Copping determined the match in the end.

Close game though, that's all you can ask for.

Think we learnt a few lessons today though :).

What I'd give to have Papaluca in goal for this World Cup campaign.

That was incredibly tense. Some stellar performances kept us in the game, but in the end a wonder-strike settled the game.

I knew the last 10mins would be hard for us. Then again, we almost stole a point in the final minute.

I'm really happy about the shot tally. Could have easily gotten so much more out of that game.

A few managers should be proud of how well their lads played.

Was a solid performance with a couple of frustrating moments that decided the match. Can't ask for much more than what was put out given the average rating difference. Whilst it wasn't the usual abrek stock tactic, it had many similar traits and it almost backfired.

Would have to pick Erdogan or Hirons as our best on ground though (speaking of which are we planning to vote 3,2,1 for best picks this season?).

I was stunned with how quickly the trigger to shoot was pulled after a back cross from their winger. Was almost like it was connected with before it even hit the ground and it was just so fierce all you could do was stare in disbelief at what had actually occurred.

it was as if paul scholes, steven gerrard, and frank lampard combined their right legs and pulled the trigger on the perfect volley =/
