Asunto: National Team U21

2009-09-25 20:38:20
Well, we did what we could with the personnel available.
Outplayed today, but generally a good campaign.

Thanks again to all the support from the brains-trust. Maybe with some of the guns pulled this week, we can come back with a stronger U21 squad next time.

While it's fun to be punching above our weight, it would be nice to be a serious challenge for these top teams.

Close but no cigar. Road ends here.

Everyone involved in the U21NT (trainers, coach, brain-s trust, supporters) did really well. For Australia to get this far was a massive achievement , and it's good to see with good personnel, we can get to the World Cup Finals. It is a bit of a shame we can't compete against the bigger nations, but now it gives us a chance to get our ranking points up again, to get a good draw against next season.

Bad luck against Suomi today Viv. Fantastic effort in our First U21 World Cup appearance. Not quite the fairy tale we were looking for, but it just showed how great a squad can be with very good tactics which utilise the players and their abilities best. As Achmid has just said, it is a shame that we couldnt get further with the base that we put together, but in the end, it shows how far Australia has come to prove that we can compete with the rest of the world. I cant wait to be seeing these U21 guys playing for the National Team in future seasons!

Was a really good campaign, almost made it further! Hard to ask more than that. :)

It's a good campaign... from the first game two seasons ago to friday's one.
We've achieved more than some major countries!
It just shows if the community sticks together and produces quality players where we can go.

I really enjoyed the U21 forum where everybody never spoke one word above the other. Teamwork was a big key to this campaign. (Maybe we can start doing the same for the Seniors?)
Anyway, it was a good ride :)

hey guys, i saw your u21 coach added cormac mottram to the squad. i'm going to sell him because my pace training period is over. anyone interested?
talent is quite good, eg 4 weeks pace 9->10 with 19y

Cormac Mottram, age: 20

value: 514 250 €, wage: 4 300 €
divine form, very good tactical discipline

adequate stamina formidable keeper
formidable pace unsatisfactory defender
unsatisfactory technique poor playmaker
formidable passing unsatisfactory striker

LOL. This is fitting, 'cos we're just discussing this very pop in our newbie forum. :D

Yes, Mottram is a good chance to be #1 GK for the U21 NT next season.
Good luck with the sale.

We have an U19 game against Tigermaster's old crew Malaysia, next week. So get your 18/19yo guns updated in the NTDB. ;)

updated all my U19's. Don't know if any are good enough but they're updated anyway :).
2009-10-02 16:25:46
my 2 players that are under 19 are updated as of the last pop, which should be fairly recent from memory

Nice win, although given the ratings difference it might have looked a bit nicer if we made it 3-0 in the 2nd half there.

Barnes looked a little flat though tonight.
2009-10-02 20:20:38
It's understandable. I probably should've given him a rest in the 2nd half. Good result though. Thanks for your help with the tactic.

The U19 game next week will be a great chance to see what kind of quality we have in the pipeline. These are the guys we're likely to see play a part in the next U21 World Cup.

Nice clean sheet from Willis.

It was strange that Danmark's players didn't seem to want to pass to the winger...
