Asunto: National Team U21

Nice clean sheet from Willis.

It was strange that Danmark's players didn't seem to want to pass to the winger...

Could be a lack of pm, but it could even be the fact that the strikers were further forward and in space -> attracted more of the passes. So it worked to our favour as we then let their strikers run into our defenders.

The build up to this U19 game has created a lot of activity in the NTDB. We've uncovered some good looking prospects for the future.
Some of them will be on display tomorrow.

Among those taking the field will be: Dihm, Poutakidis, Coyne, Woodenberg, Straker, Griffiths, Rocco and Macallister.

Enjoy the game. :)

too bad griffiths is still like ronaldo at 19, all dribbling and no passing :P

haha wow. Just submitted Allan Woodenberg and he's the highest ranked Defender and Midfielder and 2nd highest striker out of the 19 year olds. Didn't realise he was quite so good for his age.

Peake at 17 should be quite a good player too.

a fair bit more excited about the current crop of 18yo's coming through though. quite a bit of potential there with the likes of terminello, o'donoghhue, smeltz, o'neill, mclaughlin and the likes :)

What can you do. They want to go against the arranged match that's their choice. Just means you don't ever trust that manager again ;).

U19's performed quite well considering Malaysia decided not to follow the agreed match structure and instead went with their strongest U21 side. We just lacked some key skills throughout the team that Malaysia obviously had.

Anyway, the excuses will come saying oops they forgot im sorry etc etc but I wouldn't buy it. As an NT manager if you agree upon something it's your responsibility to see to it, no excuses are acceptable (well almost none, there are exceptions).

Will be interesting to see how our U19's develop between now and 2 seasons time. A lot seem to lack stamina and pace from what I saw though :).

Bad luck vivski. Thanks for giving the U19's a run :).

I suppose the funny side is Macallister became a hero to all players with hopeless striking, showing it's not impossible for a hopeless striker to slam one home from range at U21 NT level ;). Now if only my proper strikers take notice of this :p.

Please tell me how harsh I can be without getting myself banned. I'm going to give him the biggest spray! That's just not good enough!

that's just them being lazy. I'm sure it wasn't deliberate, but it's what happens when you're inactive as a manager and in control of an NT :(. Yet unfortunately we're the ones who pay for it with ranking points :(.

Yep, I had to play him blind. Figured he was worth a shot. Had a pretty good game, too. :)

I'm not saying he did it deliberately. I will wait to hear his story first. But this is not inactive enough to pardon the fact that he acknowledged the scheduled game as Malaysia U19 vs Australia U19 in plain and simple terms and then played full strength team... mistake or irresponsible neglect...

ah ok, I just went by the fact it was the same team and lineup as last week so figured they never got around to it.

Either way our U19's did reasonably well outside of that, just lacked pace and stamina in relation to the U21's of Malaysia.

Yeah, we lacked some pace and stamina at the back. Mrdja and O'Donoghue were very slow to respond to their striker's runs as well. They got dominated in central defence.

D'Arcy and Woodenberg did pretty well. Straker did what he could with the skills he has. We really wanted some better quality from his passes... especially when Barnes was standing in the box on his own waiting to receive.

I was hoping both Griffiths and Barnes would be able to turn their defenders more often. Little chance of that against their U21 team.

On the upside, with an extra 2 seasons of training, today's team will be in a fairly good position skill-wise.

griffiths wasn't lacking in pace or stamina, just passing and PM ;P

Uruguay made it into the final 8... where they were destroyed by Italy.

Semi finals next Friday:
