Asunto: National Team U21

With your strikers you could be getting double the shots if you played them more aggressively. Your defense is the bigger concern, you have too many huge holes. The gaps were big enough for our midfielders to pump balls past it for our strikers to run onto and stronger NT's will definitely pounch on those holes.

yip agreed we are lacking in defense in the whole team - hence the issue. Hopefully it will all get sorted out in time for the WC.

Plenty of time until the WC, but you can fix it in 10 seconds by making your defense work as a team rather than individuals :). Close the gaps between defenders to eliminate the massive holes which sit there asking for a truck to drive through it sideways and you'll suddenly concede fewer shots and goals :).

Liked some of your players though, thought your left sided striker in particular had a good game.

it will be really interesting to see these rankings develop. For instance what the hell are Scotland doing....oh wait i know why :D - nah but France being so low - thats a shocker for me. Poland as well being position 16 - with that userbase they should be able to create 15 youth teams capable of beating most of us.

Has been 2 rounds, France has probably played 2 quality U21 teams and lost both times. Early on when everyone is treated equally you'll get the distortion. Guarantee we won't be 5th end of next season :p. We've just had 2 excellent wins first up (both 5-1). Qualification draws could be a real lucky dip next season :p.

The win was always going to be the case against Iran, the question was by how much. 11-0 is a solid thumping, although with 43 shots we perhaps should have scored more. Still a lot of those 43 shots came from outside the box and that's going to skew the shot count a little.

Should give us some handy ranking points. Next week is going to be a difficult game though and not getting beaten by 5 or more goals would be a strong result.

I was a bit surprised to see the same tactic given that Iran have been running one of the stock tactics I thought that could have been exploited more. Still, 11-zip is a dominating result.

can also be a match winner against more powerful teams because they don't put through balls through your defense every 2 minutes. The trick is to be able to be flexible enough to mix up your defense line.

but when playinmg with wingers, the crosses will always be in the penaltybox direction..
when the defence line is higher, the crosses are not so dangerous:)

but it depends from the oponents tactics:)

See here's the thing, playing deep actually helps cut out wingers as they have less chance of beating you to the corner flag since you're already shifted across to cover them and you've got more time to shift across. So long as your defs don't drop into the goal box any cross a midfielder makes will be outside the goalbox and will most likely be a centering pass into the centre of midfield.

However, if you don't shift defenders you're quite right but it's the same even if you play them further forward anyway. The time you play with higher defense is if you've got higher skilled defenders against sides with weaker strikers/midfielders or when you're trying to catch an opponent offguard by making an offside tactic.
