Finally got an A-League squad again!
2 GKs, 6 defenders, 4 midfielders and 2 strikers in their prime.
Need to pull one more gun youth and I'll be set.

Happy chappy. :)

I have 2 59k magical coaches and 2 around 70k who are close to unearthly. My unearthly is around 95k :o He's expensive, but what is an extra 50k/fortnight these days?!?! Doubling the amount I make in gate receipts make coaches cheap.

wow... 5.6m spent on coaches a season...
2012-05-19 09:33:27
What else should I spend it on? The way I play this game is young squad, always training, maximise value. I don't buy old players at their peak.

Well, as Achmids said a few seasons back, you don't win the AL with a bunch of 23yo...

Maybe you should get the guns to take your team a notch higher?
Or spend a bit less on the coaches and get the gun trainees we see around rather than waiting for one to turn up?

I don't deny that you probably get more out of the game the way you play it in term of enjoyment.
It's interesting to compare "business plan" :)

I think I play this game differently from the other guys in the A-League. I'm not here to train, I'm here to win. I'm just going about it a different way than the others. I started a lot later, so don't judge my plans yet! Time will tell if I'm right or not.

Everyone has a different plan, there's not really any right or wrong move. Even vivski, Achmid and myself all have different plans, they may be similar but it's all about succession planning at the top to keep your team at the top. If you have the money it's great to splurge, if you don't you need another way.

One of the few things left in sokker that has skill involved that hasn't been negated by how long the game has gone.

This game is ruined to a degree by the fact you can afford a team of top notch players so everyone ends up with similar teams. This game would be much more interesting if you could only afford 3-4 really top notch players and you had to decide where to compromise.

Lol this game has been ruined in a lot of ways (both from it's inception ie player wages too low, and through it's development ie it's become very rare that even a perfect tactic can beat better teams who actually put some effort in.

And the fact that the developers don't listen (or don't listen to team outside of poland, unsure of which), really doesn't help.

In saying this, this concept has made it quite easy for my team to stay at the top, so has benefited me, but I'd prefer a lot more changes, which although would not help my team, may make the game more interesting and actually have some skill to it rather than you've been around the longest.

A couple of things this game does have going for it is the change of tactics mid game, we waited not just many seasons, but many years for this, and the fact that whilst training, the lower skills train faster than the top skills. It's a shame that the difference between skills that are considered high of value (ie 3 for strikers, "2" for defenders, 4-5 for for mids) out compete training rounded players as opposed to it's current state of being a couple of skill freaks

The key problem comes down to wages. Player wages have been ridiculously cheap up until this point (made worse by the sudden inflation that came about because of caving in and creating more money into a game that didn't need it).

You could kill so many problems in the game by correcting player wages. This would only require 2 corrections. Base player wages need to rise proportionately to make it much more difficult to have the elite players. You then need a 2nd additional wage on top that gets added to the players wage based on a percentage of the last transfer price (this reduces the insane amounts people pay, because atm it's just a case of whoever has most money wins). If the percentage is correct, it creates decisions that need to be made about whether it's worth forking out more both now and long term. Upon further resale, the additional wage gets recalculated. Obviously the additional wage is nothing for any players directly from your own youth school.

You don't really need a strict cap to say only allow X players above Y level. You just need to make it such that it's more costly and so then there is at least both pros and cons. At the moment there are no cons to splurging everything and almost no pros in developing your own.

It's an unbalanced system, resulting in lots of money, lots of top end players, lots of similar match tactics -> stale.

The reason the older seasons were better was as a direct result of there not being a flooded marketplace of quality and a flooded income stream across all teams. You had to make a choice based on your training structure where 1 section was stronger than the rest and due to the rather low levelled players, multiple tactics could be created to allow you to win.

I think in developing this new match engine they've lost sight of what made the game enjoyable to try and make it more 'entertaining' for those at the top.

I wouldn't be against a complete reset, I know a lot of managers would be against this and it's a reason it will never happen and whilst I'd be annoyed that my 7 yrs work to get to the top was suddenly removed, it would create a more competitive field and maybe a better variety of tactics (although I think users are so far entrenched in the current style, that it's unlikely to change. I feel one of the reasons the 5 def tactic works so well is hardly anyone wants to attempt to break it. I still think all tactics are breakable but some are certainly harder to then others)
2012-05-20 09:29:05
The only way to break the 5 man defence is to make the field skinnier or make all players faster.
2012-05-20 10:09:05
Make it so defenders skills are a little higher when tackling from side on, like it used to be.
There was a stage, that even against wingers, 3 man defence and packing the midfield was the way to go (I believe even at the higher levels, passing wasn't quite as accurate or headers quite as effective)

3 games vs SF this season, 3 wins, I can judge your plan :)

The same you can judge mine. I have Drum and Van Praet injured 31 and 25 days, I have no back up, so that's the start of my AL completely screwed next season already.

There's a cup for anyone in the top 6 Teams to grab, AL wise only 3 teams at the moment.

I was the only team you beat though ;)
