Tribe again subbed Link on for Aloisi after the game was tied 1-1 at the half. He certainly helped as we opened the floodgates and poured on 7 goals in the second half. A harsh result in the end, especially as we committed two fouls right on the edge of the box, gave up 1-on-1 that Limpens was lucky to save, and Borchers... well, lets just say that 2 goals from 4 strikes flatters his skills in that department.
Surely that has to be one of the biggest blowouts in the quarters I have ever seen. For what is meant to be the "strongest" 8 teams, they were some big scorelines

I was expecting my scoreline with the players I had missing....& lack of depth outside my best XI.
Naph is having a very lucky week. Don't think that deserved to end 2-1, thought 1-1 would have been a reasonable result.
You can always count on a wild cross resulting in a goal for Tribe, think that is 3 times out of the past 3-4 seasons against them my keeper fumbles a gimmie take and coughs up a crucial goal as it turned out.
Injurying Paredes didn't help either. The M.E sure was generous in that department by taking out the key player in the tactic. That wasn't naph's fault either, it's mine for not having a decent backup but it's still annoying ;). Why couldn't they take Limpens away or Hirons.
Wasn't to be in the end but at least the scoreline was close and on a better day I might have got up.
Edit: Some things don't seem to change, I don't understand why my magical+ defenders struggle to tackle McDermott front on, whilst Bowen gets tackled cleanly almost everytime, and when he doesn't he always has the ball dislodged from him ;). Seriously, I know when I take on Achmids and Frogs I get through more often then I do against Tribe, it's weird.
At least the header count appeared normal this time ;).

I'm not even going to bother complaining. I only watched the first two goals, which was just pure luck as to who got to the ball first. But then again, I'm not saying I deserved to win either. I only watched the start, and put no effort in to the match what-so-ever. Got caught up in studying and getting into a new management game.
Congrats to Naph and Frogs anyway. Although I'm not going to say their run was necessarily deserved (in either A-League or the Cup), but they are the two current in form teams and before the cup, deserved to be in the final together

cheers mate. i cant watch the match, but must say that i am pretty happy to have gotten through to the final. Dont know how much i will be on here now that im heading to Italy tommorrow. Now to try to figure out which tactic to play against tribe!
I suspect I would have been mauled if Paredes hadn't got injured as Slowacki gave me enough trouble. I thought I would be down to 10 men after the early spate of cards in what was an at times spiteful encounter.
Goalie-fumbles are a crap way to win a game. I mean, they happen, they're part of the M.E. and all, but it still makes things a bit hollow.
Certainly can't argue with the "lucky week" call either. Still, all I can do is enjoy it whilst it lasts and try and remember it next time I'm on the wrong end.

Exactly. Same should be said for myself too but I often overlook the massive luck I have had in the past and focus primarily on the times I get bad luck when I know I shouldn't be complaining. Still my pet hates in this game are stupid fumbly mistakes like that 2nd goal, 80-90m through passes and 50-50 headers falling one way the entire game. Fortunately the game appeared to only suffer 1 of the 3 :).
Certainly isn't your fault for the way the game panned out. On strength of the squad though if there was a deserving team to be in the final, you'd be it. You've overtaken TBF for the title of strongest team as far as I'm concerned.
I had a chance to draw level at the death and take it to extra time but Bowen decided not to shoot and run into the keeper :).
Slowacki has a reasonable amount of technique and pace much like Paredes but lacks in the final delivery (passing/pm). Was fortunate I had Slowacki 1st sub and Stathakis 2nd sub for mid.
Good luck to both in the final next week. I'm sure it will be a close encounter unless TM forgets and puts in his 2nd XI again :p. (You know it's going to happen at some stage :p.)

Congrats Tigermaster. It was a game worthy of being the final. I imagine you were as happy with your finishing in the first half as I was with mine in the second. There were certainly some tired looking legs running around in the extra period. My initial reaction on the winner was that it was off-side, but regardless it was a game that could have gone either way and you are a deserved winner.
Congratulations Tigermaster! Further enhances your reputation after doing such a awesome job with the U21's last season.
Congrats Tiger!
