Asunto: [U21] vivski & Minkee

No worries. You'll find that most of the U21 NT players are from teams who have run quality youth schools for a long time. If you keep an eye on the youth players thread, you may find a good young player to pick up and train into a future NT star.

If you want some help setting up your training programme or youth school, set up a post in the Australian Newbie forum.

In other news... Minkee, we won the election with more votes than cometer! Woo! :P

Thanks to everyone who voted. Good to know we have 18 active voting managers. Hopefully we'll see that number grow in coming seasons.

Now I have some shiny new buttons to play with. :D

Well there you go. Not that it matters much in the end because we both took out 100% of the votes. Congrats on winning the election and have fun with those buttons ;).

That's what you call a vote of confidence... 100%, it makes us look like dictators! But it's good too see we have the backing of our community.
We have a great staff so hopefully everything will go according to plan!

Well in fact, if you start ys you can get a u21 NT player after 1 season of ys. That would be quite lucky, but not that impossible...

Just ask sx and uber! ;)

well to be honest i didnt get a uber player after 1 season, maybe after 4 or 5 i started pulling uber yoofs ;)

Rather than writing a long-winded speech, I'll just have a look at our targets for last season and this season.

Goals
The primary target is to qualify and the secondary target is to finish the season with a strong U20 team ready to take on the next challenge.

Well we did it! We qualified for the Junior World Cup. There were some nervous times and not everything went our way, but we did the job and scored a ticket to the WC group stage.
To help the preparation of this season's U21 team, we used several different formats for friendlies, engaging the managers of up-and-coming players. That has kept the NTDB fresh and given us a decent squad to help select our team.

A lot has gone on behind the scenes. Unfortunately, in the interests of not giving away too much about our strategies, we haven't been able to open up the discussion too much on the Sokker Australia forum. I'd like to get the community more involved, but with so much riding on the games, I like to keep my cards close to my chest.

Our team has been working well though. I handled the WCQ games with plenty of great input from Minkee, cometer, Achmid and TM. And Minkee cut his teeth on the friendlies, giving me a break from the stress of the WCQ campaign.

The World Cup!
We hope to continue in that fashion. Our group (Group A) for the World Cup has Turkey, Uruguay and Finland... it's going to be a tough group to get out of. But we expected that, and you can expect us to fight tooth and nail to get every last point out of this group!

Thanks again for your support throughout the season... updating player skills in the NTDB, training our young guns and showing an interest in the U21 NT.

I generally don't post messages to every league forum, because I assume if managers don't check the Sokker Australia forum, they will not check their (often inactive) league forum.

In Australia we have very few leagues with more than 1 active player. So the league forums are usually dead and we encourage users to come to Sokker Australia or Newbie Forum.

In the end, there are better uses of the coach's time. :)

For instance, at the moment I'm preparing for our game against Turkey in 2 weeks and arranging a B-team friendly for next week.

Though it's as vivski has said, most forum users know to use this forum and it also acts as a single point of talk making it easier to locate everything :).
