Asunto: Sokker Manager

2009-07-22 04:38:46
I had the same problem as Ash a couple of months ago. A bit weird how the program works.

After I went on 3 weeks holiday I couldn't get my juniors back to right even manual updating. If I manually updated a junior they dissappeared altogether.

I wish I had started with SO :(

it's never too late!

Three weeks ago, i updated SO while the computer thought we were in 1901, it got confused with pops and all that. Then I wrote over the back up file and I lost everything but I'm still using it!
I tried SM, SV and SO and will always come back to it...

wow, that's some y2k bug...

self induced... I remove the battery of the laptop...
d'oh...

Ah ok you're a version behind then, although that shouldn't cause any problems.

Is there somewhere else I get the new version from? I went to the normal SKM website and the version i am using is the latest one listed there.

Ah ok, nah that should have the latest one there. If you can use the lineup tool thing (which isn't that exciting anyway) then you've got the latest one anyway.

Mine doesn't have a lineup tool. Maybe I don't have the latest one then...

...so confused!

I dl'd the newest one and the lineup tool doesn't work... **** program.

Righto. So what's a good reliable progam then?
2009-07-23 18:00:12
I know what uber's going to say but I dislike SO more :p. All the important things work fine with SM except in a few exceptional circumstances.

well I think most are reliable. Just that some people like flashy colours in the form of Sokker Organizer :p.

To be perfectly honest, the best way for the most reliable is to set yourself up and maintain everything yourself. Just most people don't really want to waste the time to record that information :).

Flashy colours all the way!! SO does everything I want to do. It's nicely laid out, easy to understand, low maintenance, cross-platform... it's just good. :)

I didn't really like the layout at all tbh when I used it. Hated all the different colouring which made it difficult to read, and the amount of sideways scrolling required. That was my major problem with it and why I stuck with Sokker Manager.

So yeah, I suppose SO is still probably being developed and improved so that's an additional plus.

I guess from that you could probably work out the skin I'm using for very similar reasons ;).

I have a big monitor, which helps. But I just order the columns so the ones I care about are on the front screen to reduce the scrolling. I pretty much never scroll.

There's nothing wrong with SO, it's just a preference thing.

we're not all colour blind you know!
Plus if you spent more time you would have noticed you can move the columns meaning no more scrolling :)

SO all the way... if it goes wrong it's because of the user, it never let me down...

it's a preference thing rather in the end. I'm not colour blind either :p. I just don't like lots of bright colours when it's not the visual effects you're interested in.

True I didn't notice the ability to move the columns though.

SM has never let me down either ;).

Either way it's not really an attempt to convince one to use either because they both perform similar functions and it's whatever you prefer in the end that's best for you :).
