Not currently. Had to check dates first, but my 21st is the weekend after the 2nd Belgium game, so am in the clear for the WCQ games. Trying to plan a trip over to Perth for a week/end but will take my laptop so it shouldnt be too much of a drama to set tactics etc

With your club commitments in your title defence, taking on the NT responsibilities will be quite demanding time-wise.

Other than the standard selection/tactics, there's also scouting/promoting/raising interest levels within the Aussie community...
Will you have time to do these things?

Do you have any plans on how to use the NT to inspire the next generation of active managers?

I managed to win the League/Cup this last season without much effort - especially considering I was travelling through Europe. :P

I have been in the A-League before while Managing a NT, be it either Malaysia or the Australian U21's (3 of the past 4 seasons in the A-League I have been managing a NT). I am quite aware of the time responsibilities that are required to manage the National team, and I have the time to do so. I am an active user in the Aussie forums and help out whenever I can.

Scouting has become alot easier ever since the Dream team web has come back alive, so I can use that to scout out hidden players. I also scan the Transfer List for Australians every 1 or 2 days. Promoting the NT can also be done through forums and attempting to run competitions which have been run by Cometer and Borkos in the past. The plan behind running the competitions is to increase the interest levels of users.

All I can really do is help managers out whenever asked, continue working with the U21 Brains trust and maybe introduce some users into that brains trust to increase their knowledge of the game and also have the possibility of those users either becoming the U21 or NT managers in a few seasons.

Do you think the current crop will make it to the World Cup or will we need a new batch to step up for next season?

Who are the up and coming stars of the Australian NT to look out for next season?

Will you be preserving our guns in the friendlies or using the games as a chance to try different formations against quality opponents?

Should you not have waited for Cometer to fail to qualify once again and then postulate for the NT and grind your teeth for a season before tackling the WCQ? :p
At this point in time I'm interested to know how you can better Cometer's effort in your first ever campaign with the sokkeroos.

Thank you :)

I would assume that the current crop will mostly be playing for the next couple of seasons. I would be pretty certain that some new faces will make a few appearances during the world cup. Currently I havent taken the chance to look at the complete squad through the NTDB as all I was doing was sending off skmails to update the squad.

Up and comers are definitely Morton, Papaluca, Stewart, Byers, Puca and a few others that will run out through the midfield. Players like Drum, Nesic, Libesson and Villafane will all have the chance to have a run in the next couple of seasons too

The intention would be to play 2nd XI and U24 different format type games to prevent Injuries and the like.

What kind of countries will you target for friendlies now that the formulas have changed?
2009-08-29 12:58:59
what will you do to avenge our losses to NZ this season?
2009-08-29 14:15:19
Maybe I should have waited but I had already planned out when I wanted to run for the Australian NT job. I was contemplating running for the Australian U21 job again, but Vivski and Yourself have done a very good job last season, and after qualifying for the U21 WC I decided not to run for that job.

I have always enjoyed the extra challenge of managing a National team, and would like to continue that in Australia. Why wait until Cometer fails again? If he qualified for the WC, that would mean another season where I am not in a national job. And if he qualifies for the WC i am almost certain that I wouldnt run next season if Cometer made it into the WC as I believe it is the Managers "right" to manage in a world cup that they have qualified for. So the idea is to start managing the national team now at the start of a campaign rather than when the squad is going to a World Cup.

I dont know how I exactly better cometer's effort, I do know that I can bring a new element into the National team - A fresh face, we both know how to make tactics, but the way I build tactics is different to how cometer would build his tactics. Player selection and usage could be different depending on what skills they have and what I as a manager prefer in a player.

It would depend on what is available. I would try to have games where we would use a B team against another B team against teams such as scotland. Or an U22 match against a newer team. It would all depend on what teams are available for friendlies when it comes around to the time to organise friendlies.

@ SX - Not lose? :P
Haha nah Vilpu is a very competent manager and very tactically sound. I would do my best to not give them the chances on the ball and cut out their midfield play and forward movement. Will all depend on how I am feeling in the lead up week to the match as to who plays and how to play the game tactically.

Cheers mate - You have done a fantastic job over the last few seasons - 8 or so wasnt it?

Now to get the job done and get these WCQ games through and get into that bloody world cup!

10-7, pretty close (well, closer than the last one). Congratulations.
