It wasn't exactly tanking. I actually tried to win that qualifier. I just had bigger incentives to train players and win the Trinity Cup (which I did) so I think that was justified :).

Nice work Tribe. As you can tell from the players, i never went into that match trying to win it. Played as many seconds as i could, but hey, if they somehow pulled it off, i'd have taken the win. Good luck to those left in the cup. Maybe next year i'll look to win it (but probably not...training gives more enjoyment)

Yeah it is a little like that. Though given the best I can achieve is the cup this season I'm in the mood to try and win it ;). My last cup final was against TerjeH. That's going back some time ago.

I still think there should be something (not financial) to winning the cup that gives incentives to win it (though there isn't a lack of interest in winning the cup here in Australia which makes the cup more meaningful).

Thanks for the game naph, was delighted with the way I was able to push your AM into Hirons and take away arguably the key pin in your tactic. Most other times I've left that AM alone and I've ended up chasing ball in the wrong direction.

Given I feel I've got a stronger defense now than last season, I figured it was time to start taking back some of that space I've often allowed you in past encounters and try to force effort from your back 3.

Helped me significantly that Hirons was in weak form though.

Congratulations again on making it this far in the cup yet again and good luck for the rest of the season in the A League. I think after that performance my side might be almost ready. Just need to strengthen a couple of areas now.

Also congrats to the Frogs on making another cup final. The bad thing is I'm not in the final to come 2nd ;). Should be a belter.

Given the latest NT election... it's the showdown which had to happen!

I suppose not having the NT to look after gives me more time to look at my own club :p. First cup final in well lets say over 2 years so it's nice to be there.

Frogs have a much stronger defensive group though, so it's going to be a very tough ask. The big advantage I had is I pretty much knew what naph was going to do and I think if most watch it you can tell I had just about all my placements correct to shutdown most of their attacks. Tigermaster is another challenge again.

For any punters on this game I can't remember the last time I actually won an important game against them :(. Maybe 15mill in my account might help ;).

Thanks. Haven't seen this game either but based on the attempts from the game it seems like it is how my season will be. 10-9 in attempts but 1-3 in score.

Only just saw the game. Great job tactically cometer. It was an exhibition of why a custom tactic is better than a stock tactic. Can't complain with the result at all, simply beaten by the better team/manager on the day.

I still believe in having stock tactics as they're pretty valuable, but I also do believe that it's useful to mix it up a little from time to time. That way it's a lot harder for opposition to make a specific custom tactic to take out a particular tactic.

A stock tactic doesn't need to be modified too much, a few throw in positions, slight difference in striker runs, winger positions etc, depth of defense. All these little things can alter a game. The tactic I used against you was really my stock 4-3-1-2 with a winger, that had a few significant changes to attempt to counter yours.

So yeah having a stock tactic is very useful as if you get that consistently effective, small tweaks here and there can often produce another similar but different customised tactic in which the result can be a totally different outcome.

Still it's nice to be able to be flexible and come up with completely different and customised tactics and it certainly is the case that a customised tactic in general is better than a stock tactic if the customised tactic takes advantage of the opposition stock tactic being almost the same.

All I needed to unstick that entire plan was one of my defenders or midfielders to get injured or a defender sent off and it would have been a different game. My depth atm is reasonably shallow but I'll be looking to boost that shortly.
