20 juniors

20 outfielders
0 keepers

That looks to be somewhat disadvantageous for my youth team.

I've got a few Evan Bergers in my team. Fast, no passing or shooting, but short enough to run between your legs.
2009-12-09 12:55:28
I've got 5 players who should fly under the radar, i.e. 0cm in height. Has anyone heard if the devs are going to fix this?

Juniors =
23 outfielders
3 keepers - one due in 4 weeks as an excellent 20yo (currently v good in old speak) :-(
Although my magical youth coach is telling me he's currently formidable ??? It'll be interesting to see if he's tall or a munchkin.
2009-12-09 12:57:09
it's been raised so it's just a matter of when it gets fixed. Players aren't meant to be lost in grass or killed by the ball.
2009-12-09 13:00:32
mine are often lost smoking grass! they're then convinced they can't be seen :-)

I'm not 100% sure what the devs are trying to achieve by adding this random element into juniors to make talent tracking more difficult.

Won't the current change just make training talent graphs more valuable?
2009-12-10 09:07:03
I would have thought it would have made them less valuable because they're less reliable as you'd now need extra information such as youth coach and also matches played in youth school.

I'm still not sure I entirely agree with much of the junior school changes including age and type as well as changing the training system. Think it destroys one of the stronger areas of sokker.
2009-12-10 09:17:38
I guess a positive is now we get to see everyones youth players excluding level and position. That could be good for U21 managers being able to keep a list of players in everyones youth school for tracking purposes.

In other news the youth leagues are operational at last :).

I think you've misunderstood by "training graphs" I meant the graphs that show a player's talent after they are part of your senior team.

I fully agree that youth school talent graphs are now of very dubious value.
2009-12-10 09:35:14
ah yeah quite true. The difference is that its still harder to accurately predict precise talent and it's now like utility, a 3 pop is better than a 4 but it doesn't give as precise as before, because the player may or may not have been trained in that skill etc. There's still risk unlike the old junior graphs which were constant and far more accurate.

Not sure if I agree with the changes as well.

It got me thinking about those struggling in lower leagues & newbies....hard enough financially for them to afford a decent youth coach, & even if they have an excellent coach, it will still give a lot of misleading information. Hence, they risk keeping on youths who may appear better than they are....&/or cut players who may actually be better than they look.

There is also the risk some will overcommit with the cost of a youth coach as they feel it's necessary to get a truer reflection.

Seems to be based on a whim, & I've little doubt the devs who decided this are well entrenched financially & have the experience to cope with this.

This is not coming from someone who will suffer as above - I can afford magical + coaches & will be advantaged over those struggling along.

That's why I suggested that smaller clubs get an increase from their sponsors each week. Even $5,000/pw would help towards the overheads. You can take the junior school bonus away from me if I stop playing in the junior league.

At the moment I will be relying on stadium income, so I can afford to play in a junior league, with a hopless coach. This means it will take even longer for me to upgrade my stadium, and being able to afford better players is just a dream. I can't seriously think about buying better players untill my stadium is big enough, and is able to pay for everything.

I'm not having a winge. I can afford playing in the jumior league if I include my stadium income, and I should have some money left, after all.

I disagree with you both.
Purely based on the fact that when I started that game I read advices from people left right and centre that simply said you have to have a junior school to boost your team roster and money and that in the very long run it will worth it.

So from day1 I opened a YS with 6 slots and an excellent coach. I plan for it (remember, it's a management game).
Now people will get income week in week out for playing juniors's game, that in itself will help setting up a YS or pay for the coach's expenses. It wasnt there before.
Now they've twicked the system a bit so unless you have a decent coach the accuracy of the juniors skills in the YS is less precise.
big deal... if you can't wait 6-7 weeks and realise by yourself you have a dud in your school then you're not going to have a very profitable YS regardless of the level of your coach. Accuracy or not you can pick the stud from the useless junior yourself.

I'm definitely in the league as soon as I have enough players.

The system will let me apply for the junior league. Should I apply now, or should I wait until I have 11 juniors in my junior school.
2009-12-11 07:32:37
I'd be waiting for 11 players.

You don't want to be giving up walkovers with your junior team as it affects your fans mood (even if only slightly)
