Asunto: [News] Combination Play and Ticket Prices
you went to all that trouble when all you really needed to do was multiply 12 x 1.5 and 14 x 1.5 and you end up with 18 and 21 :p.
So when do I get the million ;).
Quite clearly if you have an equation where everythings scaled up by the same % that equation is easily solved....

While you're right for this couple (x,y) of solution my equation gives me a lot more flexibility.
I can choose whatever value for x myself and the equation will return me the y... not just 18 and 21 everytime! :) So no million for you sorry...
Sometimes it's worth doing the full mathematic demonstration to encompass all solutions as I'm sure the difference in price between side and behind the goal can have various outcome on the crowd. I'm yet to be convinced $3 is the optimum solution/gap.

Well I wasn't giving you all solutions, I was looking directly for the simplest solution. I don't really agree that you've got the right equations for prices anyway as you've basically assumed a lot of things, especially that when your old stadium sold out there weren't more than would have come or that they would have paid more and still come.
Ah well, thought I'd try. You wouldn't have paid up even if I had of generated all possible solutions ;).

I wouldnt have paid because there is an infinity of solutions! You will never finish generating them.. :)
The beauty of Maths ;)
I agree with you but I have to start somewhere, the asumption I made is the best I can use to start making more $$$ :)
I don't stop you contributing if you think of a better solution or angle to tackle the problem...

As far as methods for trying to gain knowledge I know about as little as everyone else with the exception of greg. I'm going about trying to gather data before I can see anything, so that's going to require price changes to see the effects.
I've started plotting stuff... Setting one stand at $400 actually helps a lot to understand and try to maximise profit.

Minkee, you're in a great position to learn very quickly, 'cos your stadium is symmetrical.
If I were you, I'd set all the corner stands to $500 and then play with the other 4. Sideline to $20 & $30, Behind goals to $15 & $25. Then see what kind of distribution you get and go from there.
I'll be looking to do something similar with mine, but I don't have the luxury of a matching behind-goals area.

Actually, I'd set the corners to $50, $100, $200, $400 respectively.

You're not me :)
I've done quite a few combinations the last 3 games.
So far I've got a S curve shape with ticket price in x and stand revenue in y.
I think there's no need to push ticket prices very high to max the income.
I need a lot more data but so far I don't need to go over $30 for a seat...

You're the data analyst, so I'm sure you're building the stats very efficiently.
My stadium's not optimal for learning these things, but it does have some benefits. I can price the benches aggressively to gauge how the opposing seated stands go (roof vs no roof).
Unfortunately I don't have any home game's 'til next weekend.

Not impressed with my first round of data for ticket prices.
I would have thought the goal would have been working out the price at which you just fill your stands. Instead it looks like its going to be optimal playing to a half-empty, or worse stadium.
That's pretty bogus. I mean for starters, who in their right mind would pay $40 for a corner bench when there are $15 tickets for the same quality seat still available... yet the $40 corner benches not only made the most of any of my benches, it made more money than any of my under cover seats!

Well, if anyone wants me to test things, just lest me know.
I have a 58k seater, all seats, all roofed. well it will be a 58k in about 7 days when the end stand is finished. So let me know prices for areas of the stadium and I'll set accordingly.
Just so you know
Corners - 5k x4
Sides - 10k x2
Ends - 9k x2

wow, that's good reading. although not sure how ticket prices will work in div 2....espesh as I look to host non active teams.
I don't think I'm going to get anything special next week given my current supporter mood. I'm expecting to lose about 10-15 fans tomorrow and consequently my fans will be staying away. Guess higher ticket prices couldn't hurt though :p.
