I have had a youth team running for a while with only a formidable coach. I've had two good money spinners who were both keepers. The rest have been duds. Is a formid coach enough or do you really need someone more expensive to train faster?
In relation to youth school, a lot of it comes down to luck and good judgement.
Obviously ideally, you'd want an unearthly youth coach as it gets the best results, however the catch is it costs you a truckload more at the same time and isn't feasible for many sides in the lower leagues. In saying that it's not the case that if you upgrade to an unearthly from a formidable you're suddenly going to start producing a production line of top quality players. You still get more than enough duds.
So in short, higher coach level = higher chances of higher level players (not necessarily better) but at a much higher cost.
For example a formidable coach wages is around 15k or so a week. A magical for example is around 60k a week, so you need to make sure you can afford before upgrading. Formidable is still sufficient for lower league teams though.
