Asunto: Australia vs Nicaragua

The 3th game in the Mini World Cup will be the easiest one.
We have to dominate Nicaragua and score 10 to 20 goals.
I don`t have to say so much about them.

No he'll score a truckload because their gk probably won't be anywhere near Stephenson's striking level :p.

Actually, having seen them play Ireland, I'm revising it to 10+ goals for Stephenson. He should have 30+ shots.

Yes, nice result. But its a shame, we had 57 shots and scored only 17 times :(
But it doesn`t matter, we should be in the next round. And now everything is possible :)

If you don't believe in strikers having a special hidden skill that determines their accuracy, then Stephenson is a good example why you probably should :p.

Stephenson has so much in common with the Wallabies atm in that they continually throw away opportunities. :(.

Nah, Stephenson did okay tonight. Watch the game before you criticise him. He didn't have that many good opportunities. Half a dozen of his shots were from dodgy positions. Strikers are usually doing well if they convert 1 from 3 shots.

Solid result, although I would've positioned the strikers a little differently.

check out Witczak of Polish u21. This guy is tragic, wouldn't score if his life was depending on it! /I've heard a nice expression like that, don't remember it though...any hints? it was pretty similar/

2x header from penalty spot -> miss
1x dead in front inside box -> goal
1x header from penalty spot -> goal

Apart from arguably 4 shots (2 headers from edge of box, the long ranger and the blocked shot) the rest were all gettable chances and in about as good a chance as you're ever going to get bar the goal being completely unmarked.

That leaves 2/8 which is still terrible conversion rate given those 8 should see a normal striker bury 4 of them.

I agree he was badly positioned but that just resulted in less shots.

On any given day, 1/3 is pretty much the mark you're looking for in a striker, so he should have scored 4/12 as my pass mark. Then factor in you were playing a really weak side with a weaker goalkeeper then most and you really should be looking at 1/3 as a minimum efficiency rating.

I did watch the game live before I commented and my view was Stephenson was horrible and that hasn't changed today after re-watching the game. The fact that Drum was able to slot close on 1/3 despite 34 shots and Pottier had like 1/2 from his brief stint on the field suggests Stephenson didn't do as well.

Stephenson has a history of poor finishing so it's nothing particularly new.

Aussie NT midfielders are going through a rough patch with Thompson cut down for a fortnight.

Nah, it was something connected with surviving, the first one is nice though :P
