Asunto: S21 - Race to A League & Div II

I thought Real Galah gave themselves every chance with the tactic they used. They were countering very nicely. The Comets lone striker had an army to fight through whenever he got the ball. Love the Pink and Grey strip too, its been a while since I watched RG and its a memorable uniform.

MM vs Coconuts was a great game. MM dominated the game for stretches and produced some great through-balls but couldn't get a finish. Of course when KC went forward they always looked dangerous with Maras/Wirrapanda and looked like they could have scored another couple. Very entertaining for a 1-0 game.

Well that was unexpected. Full credit to Real Galah for causing a pretty mass upset and come the final siren they were clearly the better side out there today, assisted largely by some pretty horrendous performances from my players.

In saying that, I think going 2-0 down into half time was a little against the run of play. Could very well have been 2-0 the other way as I had created a lot of chances only for midfielders to fail to cross.

Losing Necevski to a red card early in the 2nd half killed any chance of a revival and it was always going to be tough after that.

Goes to show that you need to take your chances when you get them and Real Galah took full advantage of the few they got in that first half.

When I went 2-0 down I was waiting on the red to Necevski to kill the game and I just knew it would happen as everything else seemed to not be going for me like it had done last week.

Not really what I wanted to have happen, puts me in a financial situation now where I'm pretty well screwed for the entire season. Looks like losing 200 fans this season is going to get worse next season. Bottom line, given what RG put out, it was a poor tactical choice I made not to mirror my own tactic which would have ended with RG struggling to get a shot at goal. Dug my own grave before the match started and then didn't take my chances.

I'll obviously look at bouncing back next season and good luck to Real Galah in the A League. Shattered not to have won though, given how well that tactic had been working.

I must say, it would be nice to see more talk in here from the teams actually involved in the reles/promos. I mean, if cometer was to have won the match, what would we actually be talking about? Most exciting part of the season, and the managers actually talking at all A-Leaguers with the exception of uber

Pretty happy with my 10-0 victory tonight. Gets the fans back up to Madly In Love! :) The red card hurt the Snappa defence but the damage was already done before hand, with Lascarescu running down the wing, crossing to Ponce for 6 or 7 crossed headers! Must say the 68th minute blinder from Ponce from outside 30 yards out was one to watch again!

Div2 kind of lulls you into the monotony of rolling out the same team and tactic to steamroll inactive teams, week-in week-out. I guess that's a factor, although for those teams promoting (Tong & RG), it's about to get real.

I hope the step up jolts both of them from their hibernation. :)

Exciting times for both teams. Real Galah has been in II.04 for the last 12 seasons! Tong has been in II.01 for 12 seasons!

wow.. there are some suprises from last night games...
To see KC and RG in the AL is a bit of a surprise obviously but I can't help thinking that RG deserves a crack at it after almost everyone burnt him the priority over the last few seasons. I'm really rapt for him, it is so deserved after all these seasons...
I feel for Cometer though but I'm sure he'll be back up there next season with the AP.

It's Achmids fault, everytime he does well in the A League I end up being relegated haha :p.


As I said before though, the worst part isn't so much spending a season in II (ok, it's a bit light on activeness) but the financial issues I'm going to face make it so tough but we'll find a way to get back.


Interestingly, Real Galah's first major change of tactic all season in competitive fixtures came for the qualifier. I banked on it being the same as usual and it had a huge effect in the end.

Thought I'd chime in at last. Pardon the silence, but frankly, I'm speechless.

@Cometer: I'd been plotting for a quali since an unexpected mid-season couple of results didn't go as expected. But with a bot coming down from prem I had been able to focus on training in my lineups this season and even give some first team time to an U21 I'm working on. So yeh - a tactic change was always gonna happen. But if I'd been you, I wouldn't have expected it either ! I'm still stunned it was an effective tactic change though...

And yeh here at RG I'm stoked to finally graduate from II.02. Minks did a great job of robbing us last season. It's a pity he's relegated because I'd have loved a crack at revenge there ! Still - I am a time-poor Sokker player.

I waste too much time getting out playing RL football I guess :D

Anyone willing to rethink the "AP to AL is a one horse race"?

Too early to start making calls. We will have a better understanding come end of round 7. At the moment though I'm still quite comfortable as I should start winning games in high double digits shortly. Should you manage to keep up with me during that period, I'll rethink that it's more than a one horse race ;).

I can't wait for you two to have an accidental draw... at this pace TL from II.02 can also be in the mix.
We know too well that we have to wait rd14 before drawing such conclusions!

Another comprehensive win. Can't see sides beating me if they only get 1-2 shots a game to my 30-40. Also having a new user get assigned to my league as of today makes it even easier. Don't know why they get assigned to div II, it's clearly a flaw in the system as it was only meant to apply to those with 4 divs or more but has been happening to II for ages now that I remember. Whilst I supported it when we had 4 divisions, I really can't see what good it is putting them into II straight off the bat when they're clearly going to get slaughtered.

Appears fantum had a new side join this week too, replacing Cumlionibus. I'd hate to imagine how much sponsorship they dropped this week as Cumlionibus had been around for 5yrs.

I'm sure the power that is has some sort of justification for it, whether it's a bug or not.
Any new teams entering div II should at least start off with a team comparable to the competition. They're playing against teams with 10+ seasons of experience and development.

why don't you use your mod power and ask yourself :p

I think new teams should start in III too...
