Asunto: S22 - Race to A League & Div II

2011-02-21 13:26:28
Frogmeisters15 - Triggers Lads
Tong FC - Da Minkees
Real Galah - Melbourne Magpies
---------------------------------------

Three exciting match-ups there. Who's going to succeed, who will be consigned to Div II?

Whoever does promote will find 5 established teams ready to give them a good challenge. All of them ripe for upsets, due to their lack of tactical variation.

my tactic happens to work very well with the players i have thank you very much :P

i also steadfastly refuse to use wingers, like how tribe refuses to use more than 3 defenders. we WA teams like giving the rest some hope of beating us :P:P

All of the top teams now have quite mature tactics. However, when's the last time you tuned your tactic for a match (throw-ins, corners, etc).

probably more than 5 seasons ago

Won't be able to watch as I'm heading to Egypt on the weekend. Not too fussed either way as long as some BOTS are cleaned out of div 2....even if it's by losing quali games.

Pretty happy with GD this season but Comet's access to more virgin teams meant no way I was a chance to AP. Looking to cleanout trainees by season end & start next season with some fresh trainees....3 youths pop this week....exc/form/brill at this stage.

Same old next season I'd say.....maybe a good cup run?!

Sadly I've been using a back 4 for most of the season.

Of course one of the back 4 is really a DM, without enough def to really be an A-League defender and he plays with Mid orders... but still.

We've never beaten Tong during an official game, the attack is 50% of it was since last sunday... if we get through that one I'll be happy, In all fairness I don't really rate my chances next sunday...so we don't win then there's going to be a big clean out which I never got round to do this season.
That said it kind of already started if you look at the transfer forum...

I am looking forward to the game, strictly on a "learning" basis. i think the frogs will squarsh me tho

I believe you played as many new sides as I did. 4 games each from memory. In saying that the teams I had replaced gave me an advantage. I still believe I would have got the AP even without the newer teams. I can't see why you couldn't promote though, you're as good, if not better than Real Galah's side.

Yes, wrong to say "virgin teams"....more a case of Adelaide Utd being one of your bots & total walkover...whereas my bots weren't as bad.....certainly a little more competitive.
Not suggesting I'd have AP'd (you should be in AL) but with my GD it's a tad harsh.

Anyone who gets a goal difference above 100 is going to be unlucky not to promote automatically in my opinion and you deserve to be in the A League along with me.

I still think if you take away my last 2 bot results and added in 6-0 and 8-0 victories to be on the safe side, I'd still have beat you on GD anyway by a handy 10-20 goals but yeah it could have been closer but I don't think I was ever in doubt of not getting the AP.

Oh damn, I lost. :-(

Bad Luck Tong.

Minkee with some real A-League quality ratings there. Drum may have added that little bit of firepower Minkee really needed.

Frogs do a cometer and drop in a game that they really were a favourite in. I wouldn't be surprised if they get the autopromotion next season though.

Magpies promote, no real surprise there. It will be interesting to see whether Real Galah can hold their own against Larikan next season.

There were also a few changes in div II, but no huge names dropping to div III.

Good game Tong. Sorry to see you go down but you gave me the hardest game all year and you shouldn't have too much trouble getting another qualifier next season (that's if Uber doesn't run out of inspiration and copy your tactic against you!).

I think it was pretty one sided until the 20th mn when things started to click together a bit more for me. My both side backs were kept busy and my GK kept it together on more than one occasion.
There wasn't much space in the midfield with both of us playing the offside trap but it got a bit lose on counter attacks like I had hoped for before the game. I think we got the clearer occasions in the end.

Drum is a beautiful addition to this team, it's a pleasure to see a player splash the game with his technique and such a decision making ability.

What happen to the Frogs eh? Nice to see Trouto getting promoted, it will be a though ride next season but the AL is the best place to be.

Happy Minkee :)

And to think, Snappa has been trying to promote season after season whilst keeping trouto and jyu back in 2nd, trouto gets one attempt, and suddenly, he promotes
