Haha love it. =]

Cometer, Dave, I have no doubt the best team won in the end, but unfortunately that doesn't always happen, and going by the report, it appears as though you were having one of those matches, and if that trend continued, and there wasn't an injury to the keeper, then you may just have been on the receiving end up an upset victory. Given 70min had gone without you scoring, and only 20minutes to go, it was a fair possibility.

As far as the champions league goes. Given the strength of our top teams, I'd expect all top 4 of us to make it to the 3rd round. Given you won both Aus cup and A-League last season, it should show a certain degree of dominance against 3 other very strong teams, so would expect you to get past the 3rd round. These would at least be my goals in the CC, and I would be disappointed with any less. We may have smaller numbers as a nation, but especially you, naph and I, have all been around this game far too long, and we aren't exactly weak teams even on an international level. It's just a shame we have remained relatively stagnant (very little growth) due to country numbers/losing some really good teams to quitting the game

It does depend on who you draw though to a large extent. Yeah my 3rd round match was a tad disappointing, played the wrong tactic against the wrong opponent and was penalised for it. Difficult when people sit 5 men in the backline all stronger than your strongest striker though and have 2 strikers stronger then your defenders.

None of us have had much luck in Champions Cup draws.
Agreed that we should be aiming to get 2 teams into the CC next season. Up to us to make it happen on merit. ;)

Would be a shame for Tribe to qualify, then sell their squad.

Now this is the stuff I come to read! two guys going at it.
But I know guys are disappearing on here, happens in all games, example battrick. I've been playing that long than this and noticed the decline of good teams becoming "bots".
I am trying to make my team stronger, and thought I was getting there until I got F'ed up the A in my league match. If anyone would like to gimme some tips on training and so fourth. how i should run it, that would be awesome, i'd always credit you in my future successes. :)

Also best of luck guys next week, should be 2close matches.

Cometer had to rely on an injury to chelseas keeper before they could even get on the board, let alone get in front.

Did you watch the game or just the report? I would have won with or without the keeper. Chelseas only goal came off a bobbled ball which bounced off the keeper (wasn't even a shot).

I thought on the balance of chances it should probably have been even before the injury to my keeper. An upset was definitely on the cards.

And it wasn't just my keeper off the park, my best outfielder was gone very early also.

The shot count was very lopsided but the game was very close
Disappointed not to have won that actually. Before adobe crashed on me (3:2 to vivski), all of vivskis 3 goals were very streaky/lucky. One was a ridiculously long through ball, that made it across field, and to their striker, another was a penalty shot (2nd for the game, and these, you just never know when they will happen), and the others was a blinder from outside the box.

I have no idea what each of our last goals were, but at least this match was close enough that it could have gone either way. Guess I can focus on going back to training now.
2011-11-23 12:23:13
For as streaky as vivskis goals may have been, all of them combined was nothing compared to your 3rd goal :). Was only a few weeks ago you were telling me how bs it was and I do recall saying it happens almost every week to some side :).

In saying that I agree the game was pretty close and could have really gone either way. Some of vivskis through passes to set up chances were simply amazing.

Very entertaining game, made up for the ordinary match of the other semi final.
2011-11-23 12:28:31
As I said, I didn't get to see either of our last goals, so unless my last goal actually scored 2 on the board, it doesn't make any difference whether its a little streaky/lucky or a lot.

But as I said, at least it was close enough, that it could have gone either way, so its not too bad having lost the match, just sucks that the goals actually scored off we the less likely shots to go in (or at least should have been the less likely shots to go in, there are definitely doubts in my head as to how the %'s in the engine are actually calculated)
2011-11-23 13:52:18
Yeah agreed, but the match is played out before the visual effects, so potentially the graphical viewer is what makes shots seem easier/more difficult when maybe they're not. Either way it does create doubts as to how goals are determined as the amount of times a weaker side scores from relatively few shots and how the stronger side struggles to convert is uncanny. Part of a system designed to keep scores interesting maybe.

Anyway, I thought your side was better for the majority but fell away towards the back end of the 2nd half when Butea started creating more chances.
2011-11-23 15:22:18
What a game! Very intense.
The first half was very even. We struggled to create chances and Achmid's wingers threatened to overcome my wingbacks. We were down a goal for a long time, then as soon as we scored, Achmid hit straight back with their 2nd.

The second half was completely different. We started to gain the upper hand, putting sustained pressure on Tancsics' goal. While Achmid remained highly dangerous on the counter. Grubczyk and Iżmanowski were a real handful for Nesic and Degouve. And at one point, I thought Klytta was going to get Midtsian sent off. Any reds at that point would have changed the outcome.

After the pen, it turned our way. First de Windt, then Cucciardi, both curling in beautiful strikes from the top of the box. We then hit the bar a couple of times, and Petkaris made some crucial saves (I forgive him for dropping the sitter). ;)

In the end, luck went my way. But it was an exciting festival of goals, as it so often is between us. :)
Worthy of a final.

So, I guess it's down to you and me again, cometer... so often we meet in the Cup.
2011-11-24 00:41:12
Good luck to both of you in the final. If it is not as exciting as vivski and my match I will be very disappointed.
Don't really know who the favourtie is. If I were vsing cometer in the final, cometer would be the obvious favourite given how our matches tend to pan out. They should let Tribe and myself play off for 3rd
2011-11-29 22:33:36
Say hello to my new keeper, Van Hese. He has big shoes to fill.
I'll be installing his arm extensions later today.

Everything's set for the Cup Final.
Hopefully my lads can put in a good performance against Comets. We start the underdogs, but we're probably only one striker ($12M) from being on par.

We have to show, with a good game tonight, that we're worthy of a top 2 spot.
I'm sure the drama dial will be cranked to 11.
2011-11-30 08:54:30
If we can avoid having send offs, the game should be very close as usual. Good luck for the final vivski :).
2011-11-30 10:41:11
Well you two and I rated within 0.9 of each other this week. cometer, you need to join Achmid's Friendly competition so I can humiliate you both again ;)
